I think its beautiful. Having owned 3 lotus, I understand the whole unrealiable, build quality, comfort angle on things, albeit from a somewhat different budgetary perspective.

What frustrates me is that I can't imagine that sales of the 8c contribute a lion share of Alfas revenue. If they built their Brera using this design and made it sub 30k, I'd have one. Wouldn't give a stuff about the usual alfa misgivings. If they made their mainstream bread and butter cars look that beautiful, I think they'd take a great deal more business away from Audi and BMW. I'd even break my own rule about never buying a new car. I realise that others will think I'm utterly deluded :-) Maybe I am as I'm currently thinking about a used Maserati QP.

I don't think the looks are the problem here. There's a black Brera Spider parked on my street that looks amazing, but it's spoiled because you know it is front-wheel-drive and dynamically shabby...

From a Golf mk4 owner! rofl

Admittedly my Alfa's been in the garage today wink

As for the comment above re. the M1 roadwroks/Alfa's broken down everywhere, I see more VAG stuff at the side of the road than anything else... confused

As you were cool Pictures of the 8C should be labelled NSFW. Bad Pistonheads! nono

dont think any of these are great investments! they will more than likely keep losing value until they hit rock bottom like other exotics like ferrari 355's, gallardos's etc, (although the alfa will probably hold good value due to rarity)

However heres an idea, if you can find a barn big enough i suggest you fill it to the brim with audi quattro's sierra cosworths, lancia integrales, bmw E30 m3'S, bmw 850'S, old 6 series BMW's and loads more old cars. These babies are going up and up in price, almost all those above listed cars have doubled in value in the last 5-6 years and they will keep going up... now that could be a good idea if you have the room. A good example is a friend who had a E reg M3 he bought for £6000 many years ago, saw the very same car up for sale recently at £11,500!!!! i suggest you just keep them all standard.

Good advice. I bought my Lancia Delta HPE 7 years ago for 2k and they now go for between 6k and 9k, if you can find one that is...

Always been a fanatical 8c lover, I couldn't care less if it wasn't as quick as a GTR, or had the 'pulling ability' of a Ferrari or the 'reliability' of a VW. Its an unashamedly glorious car that doesn't need explaining.

Judging the 8C as a sports car is truly unfair, much akin to judging the Mona Lisa as canvas protectant ('well surely there are better protectants for less money!').
It is of course a work of art.
It handles poorly, is not attractive from every angle, is doubtlessly unreliable, has very limited storage space, and hurts your bottom should you try to use as a transportation device.
To judge it against the standard sports car criteria means that you have, like I, little regard for art, little in the way of financial means, or both.
But it is truly and classically beautiful.

yes its gorgeous - but why pay £100K+ for a modern day Alfa?

Its just doesn't feel right - maybe because ive had 4 (bog standard) Alfa's. Maybe because I live in Fiat town. I bet prices will crash in a couple of years....

I'm a huge alfa fan and do like the 8C, I am however more exited by the prospect of the next spider, the 2uettottanta
http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010...

Its also a shame the brera wasnt a tad more like the concept it was based on.. It needed those scisor doors They ruined the brera imo, not quite sure what they did but it just looks wrong in the flesh.

I love the looks of the 8C. I am fortunate enough to be able to see one everyday, as my local Alfa dealer is 2 doors away, and they have had one in the window since release. Its a Competizione Red one. Mmmmmm.

Yeah the 2uettottanta is bang on the money, I had it as my wallpaper last week... it might just go back.

They've got one in HR Owen at the moment. Saw it very briefly as I drove past the other day.

I love that car. Remember when it was first announced, knowing it was not going to be something I could ever afford. Still the case, I suspect, but love it all the same biggrin

See that the expected tripe is being spouted about Alfa reliability - do you guys think this is going to be any more or less reliable than a Ferrari of similar value? And that it has anything in common with regular fwd Alfas...

slightly old thread, but that white £200k 8C Spider is still for sale, as is a red one also with HR Owen too (for £196k) - makes you wonder how they think theyre gonna sell either when Lovetts have had a red one for £140k unsold for a while.

Spider now down to low 100s...

I am almost tempted. It's one of the best looking cars of the last 20 years... Had a white pearl spider park behind my bay in a london underground car park for a while... I would just stare at it for no reason when getting my humble German Sportscar..

Thought they were not that horrid to drive though?

The 8C Spider is a good drive, but people were disappointed by the 8C Coupe. They revised the suspension on the Spider.
