As an alternative, these Apaches are brilliant fun for a lot less ££ and 2-seaters:

I helped out as an instructor some years ago and got do a lot of demo laps. If I had any land I'd buy one (or better, two!) in a shot.
Honda VFR1000 engine was tough with plenty of power and they run with treaded front and near slick rear tyres, both for max oversteer and also to limit speeds

Hmmmm. Now that strikes me as having huge potential for commuting. Add a few lights and a couple of doors and off you go.

Will they build me one with a turbocharged Triumph triple engine?
Yes, If you want to pay for the development costs. My two seater has a ZZR1400 engine with 197bhp and they are soon developing a turbo kit for that. Should be 300BHP when complete

How fast is it 0-60?
O yeh just noticed, 3.5 seconds is pretty phenomenal. £20k and it comes with a used engine?!?!
...or you could buy an old Fireblade for a lot less.

There is a Superlite series that runs along side the Supermoto bike championship that uses rallycross style circuits but the buggies are Drakart and use either the 650cc Rotax with CVT box or the Fireblade engine.
Seen a few of the races on Motors TV and it looks like a very fun series to do smile

I saw these at the RallyX meeting at Pembrey the other month.
They were the best class racing, alot more fun to watch than the so-called `super car` class.
Which looked pretty avaerage by comparison.

I was just thinking the same, a top Grasser would make a right mess of it.

"And in a vehicle that weighs around 500kg that should make for quite a rapid"

DDuuoohhhhhhh, a Caterham SLR weighs basically the same with twice the Bhp and is road legal. A used one
can be found for similar dosh, so what's the point?

Does it have to have a point? confused

But, while we're about it you can't rallycross a Caterham - so there's a point right there...

Oh, and could you point me at a 300bhp Caterham? Because I'd love a go in one... rolleyes

They do weigh that much but they're built to do silly things. The M1 services have a wide bit of road at the back, leading to the petrol station and lots of those (usually) infuriating rubber speed humps. I've never enjoyed speed humps as much as I have in the Rage hehe

You can't do this in a Caterham.

Well if it does weigh 500kg, 0-60 in 3.5 secs seems very optimistic then, unless it has ridiculously low gearing and incredible traction off the line. confused

There are people who do RC them, there's a couple that have done rallyes in a few locations.

Then there's Targa Liege GoME Rallyes that will put you through parts of what's on that video.

I don't dispute it's a fit for purpose vehicle but it is quite heavy for that. You could take a Liege car
and put the same engine in it, with a roll bar for about the same money and Bhp......

I didn't time it but I'd be gobsmacked if it wasn't thereabouts. I've driven a few things that can do ~3.5s and it did feel as quick. It almost popped wheelies off the line.
