I fitted wiperblades.co.uk's own brand flat blades on my last car - I was very pleased with both their performance & durability; I'll happily use them again.

Another vote for wiperblades.co.uk, been running them for about 6 months now and they've been faultless.

Ok update as promised.

My PIAA blades arrived. They come in nice packaging with good instructions and some stickers too. Nice to have a few extra bits and bobs after spending 50 quid on a pair of blades! The packaging at least makes them feel a bit 'premium'.

Anyway cleaned the screen as instructed with soap and water and then the alcohol wipe provided. Amazingly, after two days my bloody screen cracked right across!

So, take two - after a new screen was fitted (very professionally by an Autoglass bloke - I was impressed) thanks to a bit of rain I've now used them a fair bit.

My verdict?

Great in every way, apart from one small detail.

They are extremely quiet - no judder or noise even at minus 5 degrees C. Normal blades seem to get very hard and coarse when it's cold and judder like buggery with horrible screeching noises. These don't.

I've driven at leptons higher than we are supposed to, and the usual annoyance of blades lifting from the screen altogether due to air pressure from speed, doesn't seem to factor. They do have a large spoiler attached, so I can only assume it works well. Tested up to 1.3 leptons if you're interested.

They wipe every drop of water from the screen with every sweep. Very efficient.

The only thing they do which I'm not keen on is smear a bit. With each wipe, there is a smeary residue left for about half a second which then disappears. I can only assume this is due to the silicon content, but it is a bit distracting, especially on illuminated motorways. It may disappear with time, I'll let you know.

Overall a thumbs up - and if they last for three years as they claim, I will be well happy.

I always find that Bosch wipers are too stiff and end up being noisy - especially in cold weather.

I used to find Champion were much better but no longer see them anywhere. Are they still available?

When it rains, don't turn them on nuts The way the water runs off the screen by itself is amazing (don't crash 'cos you're too busy watching the water wink ). This effect may take a little time to build up, but if you did the 5 minutes dry running, should be good already.

I noticed a similar brief effect on my wife's car with them the other day - it was in very very light rain, almost mist, as if there wasn't quite enough water for it to actually move away at all. Never seen it on one of mine tho....

agreed at m'way speeds i don't turm them on either, I know what you mean about the smearing as mine do that as well, but I can live with that for the 'Rain Ex' effect and the lack of noise/juddering

£50?! I put a link on this thread (I think) to a website you could get them for less than half that...?

Another vote for PIAA, they work brilliantly. On the drivers side one I have noticed some rust appearing so I emailed the UK arm of PIAA asking about getting a new frame and they are sending me a complete new set of wipers free of charge. Can't ask for more than that, top customer service!

That's for smaller ones like 15 inchers, mine are 21 inchers, although it seems on that link you posted it's nearer 40 quid than 50 for a pair so a bit cheaper.
