Not so sure about the estate but my friends hatchback rotten from the inside out although it was still mechanically in very good condition at 120k.

Half the price and you'll be paying the right amount for it.

Does the 64k seem believable?

Why only Vauxhall or Ford?

I would go for something like that over a Vauxhall any day.

until tomorrow i dont know, need to ask about history but interior looks to match mileage, only thing is it has a tow bar on it, people warn me off cars with tow bars but why? it probebly towed once or twice a year no big deal surely.

More likely to have had a hard life if it's got a tow bar. Not necessarily true though but impossible to tell buying from a dealer as you can't ask the seller if they towed a massive caravan thousands of miles a year or a little trailer once or twice.

The timing chain is probably the biggest worry with this engine. Do a search on here for the chap who bought the astra coupe bertone. Lots on relivant info on that thread.
I'd demand at least some service history.

Personally I wouldnt worry too much about a tow-bar, most times they are infrequently used. However you can always check the V5 at the dealer and contact the previous owner and ask.

The 64k I would assume to be false unless you can contact prev owner and ask them or see convincing FSH otherwise, 64000 miles over 10 years+ for an estate with a relatively high power engine - usually the sort of car which will cover a fair few miles at least at some point in its life.

Obviously the previous owner may not be of any use if they had it a short time.

if I had 2k of hard earned I'd be looking at an Accord Type R.

Ropey ones start at 2.5K. I've been looking for one of these for a while. Trust me, 2k is buy now pay later...

My old man bought an immaculate 150 SRI same age for 2K as above with FSH but not estate. A few sensors went within a few weeks and cost him circa £400.

Other than that he loves it. It's like new.

It all depends where your priorities lie. If you want good condition well spec'd soul less motoring I don't think used vectras are a bad punt.

Personally though I'd probably go for something Japanese or with less condition and more character. I am incredibly biased but Golf mk2 Gti perhaps? Granted you'll have a few little jobs but it'll cost you less in the long run. More fun too!

If you're looking for a cheapish hack then the Mondeo on the same page would be a better option. Not particularly exciting though.

Plenty of similar cars without the auto box near you.

Don't just limit yourself to one dealer because its close. Would only take an extra 20 mins to go 15 miles further.

I like that vectra very much

I saw a beautiful petrol blue one sell for a smidge under 2k aa few months back. It was a SRi Diesel with only 40odd on the clock and 1 owner.

I really like them estate SRi's!! cloud9
