Could be worse- it could be a volvo

but then this is deteriorating into the worst dashboard thread!
For the category of car the S40/C30 is in, that interior is the best in class.
laugh

No it really isn't!!!!!

Audi A1/ A3, BMW 1-series, Merc A-Class/ B-Class and the VW Golf/ Scirocco all have better interiors.

Agreed. Interesting how opinions vary so much. I think Volvo, Audi and Jag do some of the best interiors around, and I really dislike the one in the OP. Horses for courses...

No they don't and I have been in all of your alternatives plenty of times. The S40 is covered in expensive soft-touch plastics, far more so than any of those. I actually owned a 1-series and whilst it had a general aura of quality I wouldn't say that the materials were particularly expensive or pleasing to the touch.

The S40's interior is spacious, well laid out, made with very good materials and is a very pleasant place to be.

I'm biased but I like the almost minimalism in the previous shape Z4: the big slab of proper brushed metal and the cowled dials:

Posted not so much for the dash as whats underneath - a large roots blower between your thighs. the thought of that going pete tong at full revs would focus you on keeping it well maintained

That would explain the comedy "Bus driver" angle of the steering wheel.

I love the digital readouts on my Toyota Yaris because only the driver can see them, but I prefer the look of the newer model, but I'm not sure if the readout has the same driver only view.
Does your gearbox have a little kick from 1st to 2nd?
Not that I have noticed. Mine is the mk1 version though was built in 2005.

I like the floating central column. I guess a couple of those crazy French boys defected to the Volvo design team. (But then I liked the madness of the Fiat Multipla (so my opinion probably won't count for much)).
