Perfect. Everything falls to hand so easily.
I had four of these, a 330Ci, a manual M3, an SMG M3 and a CSL. It looked great at the time. It looks dated now.

(those paddles look out of place too)
I thought we were looking at nice dashboards, what's dated got to do with anything ? most of the dashes on this thread are dated.
OK! I like it!
I agree that the E46 is a good place to be but ergonomically it has one flaw that drives me mad and that is that the window switches are on the centre console. I think my E36 was the same and my MX5. It seems so unnatural to me. The windows are on the doors so if I want to operate them, that's where I want to aim my hand. What makes it worse is that we also have an E39 and in that the switches are on the door. You can guarantee that whichever car I'm in, I'll always get it wrong first time. I do agree that this era was a peak for BMW dashes though. They seem to have gone backwards since then.
That was the traditional place for the window switches from the 1960s onwards. BMWs, Mercedes and Jaguars all had them there. The move to the door was long overdue.

The new BMW dashes are fantastic. The centre console is again angled towards the driver. The current version of iDrive is intuitive and very useful with the best SatNav I've ever used.

Sorry Iknow its an amazing car, but could not live with that dash, its vile
Agreed, although it'd probably look much better if covered with leather rather than all the exposed carbon.

I prefer the E39 dash - it's almost exactly the same only with more space to store stuff and the window switches on the door.

W124 Merc. One of the reasons I bought one was because I've always liked the dash. Very comfortable, functional, no bvllst place to sit.

Much though I love Aston Martin cockpits, the "Power Beauty Soul" crap really abrades my mammaries. It is one of the rules about cars (and style in general) that if you have to point something out, then it isn't valid. For example, telling someone how witty you are, or how cool you look. Or how your car has Carisma. Doubly annoying because A-Ms clearly has power, beauty and soul in abundance.

Talking of which

I realise that the Lagonda Vignale took a huge number of styling cues from the golden era of motoring, and Art Deco in general, but Spyker and Pagani do seem to be borrowing heavily from it. I'm sure the massed PH ranks will know - do either or both of Pagani and Spyker use the same cabin designer? I believe the exterior was the work of one of the Callum brothers, but I'm unsure of who designed the interior.

For an every day family / rep car, I think the Laguna 3 had a pretty nice dashboard.

The LR Evoque seems quite too.

My old 106 doesn't really have a nice dashboard (retro maybe), but on the up side as its so simple (a whole 4 buttons, including the horn) you don't have to look at the dash to find a button, put the heater on etc, so you can keep your eyes on the road the whole time.

I'm biased but if we're looking at normal type cars then I do actually enjoy looking at this;

Yes I'm biased but there's nothing offensive or particularly brilliant about it, but it's pleasant.

I think the steering wheel looks a lot better than the VW example.
