Like said the economic argument for the cayenne's a whole other debate but when they plop the 6 pot in there and make it about as fast as my van it really does make a joke of the badge on the bonnet.

Presumably VW and audi wouldn't let porsche use their V10/12 smokers? So what now, porsche will design their own super-derv for the cayenne and the other thing, so thats a wholly unnecessary 3 different mega-tractor engines within VAG?

It's lighter than the 'old' model.

It's much easier on the eye too.

You're not surprised are you?

X5, Q7, RR Sport and M-class are all upwards of 2100kg.

Trying to get to terms with my new iPad.. But was very impressed.. Expected the turbo to be fast but felt
Diesel was an extremely good compromise..

Horrible thing, buy a Range Rover Diesel if you want 4x4 diesel plus touch of class. Buy one of these if you are a Chelsea nonce / footballers wife wanting the status to go with a Soverign Ring.

With this you are buying a rebadged, rebodied and over priced VW - what heritage! On a practical side it has a small boot.

Sits in the same useless camp of cars as the BMW X6!
I find myself in agreement with you, except about the X6. I want to hate them but can't. There's just something extremely cool about one, (on the outside - BM interiors look crap). Same goes for the Bentley then Eh?

The Cayenne was a car that in 2004 I reckoned was the most pointless, ugly, inefficient, overweight, tasteless thing ever. But have you seen how cheap they are secondhand?!! There are loads under £9,000. At that price, I might just forget my principles and values...

What's so new about this?

It's just back to the roots, folks!

I read "PORSCHE DIESEL" there.
They might call the Cayenne "Senior" then.
And, guess what?

There will be a "Cayenne Special Edition" soon in red with ivory steel rims and steel seats.
(for a prize hike of 30%, of cause)

I like it.....

I think it has come a long way since the first model and it a little easier on the eye. Why not get something a little different (and quicker) to a RR or RRS? After all there are 10 to a penny these days (round where I live anyway).

The cabin looks like a lot nicer place to be compared to a RRS and as I bet a awful lot of RR owners have never taken theirs off road, that aspect of it isn't as important to some buyers.

Each to their own I suppose but if I was in the market for that kind of car I would be one I would definitely consider!

The cayenne is the best selling Porsche model. But for me it's not in the same league as a full fat range rover, particularly with the new 4.4 tdv8.

Honestly guys, I have no problem with this car. If Porsche want to make a car that will sell by the transporter load and make lots of money in the process to develop their serious cars, aka 911!!, then all the better biggrin
