Didn't look at unleaded price, but diesel is between 125 and 130p a litre in Halifax.

I'm heading out now so will see hoe much it moved
The VAT rise is on January 4th.
There's a fuel duty rise from today.

Putting Fairy liquid in your tank isn't going to do the engine any good whatsoever.

For your average family car (1.8 litre Mondeo?), what is the cost per mile in terms of petrol if we're paying about £1.25/litre?

Trying to work out how much money I'm losing every time I go to do my charity work and whether I should just send them the money instead. rolleyes

Just filled up at 124.9 for petrol. If I wasn't so ill at the moment I'd have done it yesterday to avoid the raise in fuel duty.

£1.279 Diesel Coventry yesterday - I'm going out in a min, so I'll have a look. Tbh, I've based this years costs on fuel hitting £1.50 per litre. grumpy

This is the sort of thing I've never understood. If I'm correct the increase was 0.76 pence a litre, so 3/4 of a pence, so your fuel should of increased to 123.65? So where does the other 1/4 of a pence go?

All you need to work that out is the MPG.

Sticks.

you have to add vat on top of fuel duty so that's another bit which takes it up to 90p

Doesn't matter what the increase is it always is rounded up to 0.9p. What's that about?
Because retailers think the general public are stupid enough to think that 123.9 is somehow cheaper than 124.0...
