Yep best way is a big yank V8 or V10 with some sort of forced induction. keep the oil fresh and the plugs 'n' points in good order and it will be very reliable. A pushrod motor is a good bet, no timing chains/belts to worry about.

What do you mean by reliable?
You need to be able to drive to Rome, sit in a traffic jam for an hour in 45c with the aircon on, drive back through the snow covered Alpes, and do 140mph for an hour on the autobaun (without running out of petrol) on the way back to the ferry.

There is no substitute for cubic inches if you want reliable big power, so just get yourself a good american V8 Or V10 & add either a twin screw blower or a couple of turbos, then just keep pouring in the fuel!

Lexus V8, these engines are built like tanks. Very popular for twin turboing.

As much as I love Superchargers, I'm gonna have to say that a turbo would be the better option for that much horsepower.

Superchargers detract to much power from the engine, especially if your working with bigger numbers as such.

Not sure about that - all top drag engines are supercharged and they're, what? 5000 bhp?

Regulations prevent turbos in Top Fuel IIRC, hence they have to run superchargers (basic Roots blowers) - about 9000 BHP from the Top Fuellers....

Nissan Skylines will easily handle in excess of this with excessive tuning. They'll still undercut most exotica even when tuned too, and they'll be reliable
Far, far easier (and much cheaper) to go the US route than RB26. As for reliability, common sense would suggest the lower specific output, the less stressed.
