A local vicar has approached me believing I am some sort of car expert.

He needs a new car to fulfil the following criteria:

2.5-3.5k
2003 oldest max
Estate/Hatch to carry 4 in comfort
Not too big (no massive estates!)
Ideally auto (suffers from leg pains)
Fuel / performance / MPG not that important
Must be reliable and reasonable to run.

I suggested Passat 1.9TDI Estate Auto, Focus' etc but not to au fait on the autos on these, if the above was my criteria I would buy a 6 or 8 cyl wafter which he does not want!

Over to you...!

A tad off topic, but about 20 years ago parked outside our local church was car with reg SAT4N. Damned (excuse me!) if I can remember what type of vehicle it was on. Do a quick check on MID, then suggest the Vicar goes for the opposite vehicle.

Either the aforementioned Fabia estate or a Lamborghini Diablo.

The Lambo would be ideal if MPG really isn't an issue as suggested.

Really though, you'll not go far wrong with a diesel Skoda.

Wasnt there a TV series starring martin kemp? as the devil, who has a merc? with that number

As for the OP, I's suggest a chrysler 300 estate, in black with privacy glass and he could use it as a herse as well

If it's going to be a Lamborghini then surely it must be the Diablo?

Good call an the Passat.

Also sub 60k 2005/6 auto Mondeo's are out there for c.£3.5k.

IMO get a www.Click4gap.co.uk warranty or similar on any newish used motor.

Used cars? - He's in the lap of the gods like the rest of us!!!

Personally I would definitely not suggest he bought a diesel when only doing 3,000 miles per year.

Astra 1.8 Auto (proper auto not semi)would be a good choice. Value for money and pretty reliable.
