I was just sent a link to this video of a burnout gone wrong:

http://www.viddler.com/explore/failblog/videos/141...

Apart from the fact that the wheels aren't spinning, indicating that he's really just performing a burnout on his clutch, what causes the bonnet to pop?

Im sure this a repost but it is pure mong. Probably no oil in the engine either.

Presumably a piston exiting stage left?

I did wonder if I'd seen it before, something about that missing side window seemed familiar.

Its obviously a FWD and probably an auto, I think he was sitting on the brake to try and stop the car just driving away....burnouts in FWD auto stboxes are hard to come by....

Looks like a piston head followed by a few other bits when he continues to rev it!

Should keep him off the road for a while where he would surely be a danger to others!

It's FWD isn't it, therefore sitting on the break just means a piston will leave the engine as in the video.

Its a Neon so is front drive. Mate of mine used to be able to do pretty impressive burnouts in his SRT4 though. Guessing the one in the vid is an auto.

I remember the vid from a long time ago and from memory I seem to recall they were destroying it anyway.

Still, not to great a loss..

Massively reposted video all over the internet, IIRC it is the clutch and flywheel exiting the car
