They're in-jokes, scott-boy.

What interests you about cars?

Looking at them? Fixing them? Racing them?

Talking to the owners about them? (most of us could bore on for ages...)

One young guy on here (Kamil, I think?) bought an old Jag for a couple of hundred quid, that's one way to start if you have a bit of space in the garden I suppose!
looking at them, finding out about them.. It's mainly because i come on here and mostly look at the forza 3 pages, and i always see people going on about cars and havent got the slightest clue what theyre on about.. Fixing / painting them possibly a future ambition im not to sure :
That link I edited in (badly) has a few pics of cars from a recent meet.

Car shows etc are a good way to find out about stuff, Autojumbles are interesting, car auctions are an interesting place, helping out a local mechanic, finding a friendly local car enthusiast who works on his own car a lot, join a local motor club then volunteer as a marshall for various types of motorsport, car magazines, oh and of course PH because the threads on here sometimes drift into motoring chat.

Welcome.

It normally helps to have a specific car in mind...

i.e. the other day i was looking at a you tube clip, it was an american show and they were talking about buying super cars for under £50k, under £40k, under £20k.

A car come up that i hadn't heard of before (De Tomaso Pantero) so i googled it and searched for clips on you tube.

I done the same thing when buying all my cars.

Only ever had one pack and that was a Porsche one.

When I were a wee lad, consoles were beginning to take off so that took my time mostly.

Have you bought any of the classic car mags yet. Most are a good read and will tell you a lot about all aspects of buying, running, maintenance etc. Oh and of course Playboy, think it will be on the top shelf. Oh and welcome wink

Is your Dad interested in cars? Maybe he will let you have a tinker with his under his supervision, at least that way you can start to learn the basics.

Not 100% on the rules of employing people your age but have a look on direct.gov.uk that should tell you if you can get a job. Though most car related places may not be insured for under 16's.

This looks good for someone your age though. http://www.under17-carclub.co.uk/

Well it will remind you not to forget about girls completely. Think you are better off with cars though, so forget Playboy.

You can navigate on road rallies from 12. And I think co drive on stage rallies from 14 (or is it 16?).

Your best bet is to find your nearest motorclub and try to have a chat with the people there, if you're keen expect to be dragged out marshalling at Races/Rallies in all weathers, or if mechanically minded you might be able to go and help service for competitors on events.

Where are you based?

Love it!

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Amb...

Steve - I've an idea for making cars more efficient with battery power... when I was a kid my lights on my bike were powered by a dynamo which was rested on the tyre, in a less crude way couldn't this work on your car?

Ben - You mean like the alternator?
Con - Nice ambiwlans moment Steve!
