I have 2 V8's and no regrets on running either of them.
+1. I'd replace the main one with a V8 or a V10.

Hi guys, just wanted to ask the owners of V8's here in the UK if they regret owning it with the fuel prices here. I am from Australia and your fuel is about 50% more expensive than ours. I know a V8 is not a diesel Golf and never will be and if you want performance you've got to pay but I'm just asking if it's worth it or should I consider something else?

I'm not broke (don't have a job yet though) and I know some will think if you have to ask you can't afford it but I just don't want to make a stupid impulsive mistake then regret it.

Hear from you soon!
Ford or Holden?
Ford! (but I like a lot of holdens too)

You can balance it. For example, I have a 2005 Mustang and it's relatively cheap to insure, cheaper to tax than a UK supplied 2.0, will do 24mpg and depreciates far lass than a normal car. The one I have now is alow mile garage queen but I've run them as dailies in the past and only a family prevents me doing so now.
I have a 7.2 litre Big Block but have had to down grade to a single quad carburettur for fuel economy concerns rather than going for the dual quad inlet system.
In addition I have 'balanced it' with a small block Hemi twin plug Hemi of my truck/daily driver complete with Cylinder Deactivation

My 6.0 V8 cost about £20 extra for every 300 miles compared to my Mondeo, hardly the end of the world.

BMW 840CI - check.
Legnum VR4 - check.
Both averaging 20mpg.
Regrets - none.

Not going to let fuel prices decide what I want to drive.

Love it, offset a big block with a small block

A V8 what? Is the car it is attached to of no importance?
Not really...I can't think of a single vehicle that isn't in some way desirable, that has a v8.

4.7L in the Porsche

The only real way to improve the rumble would be some flames on the overrun.

We run a 4.2 V8 and a 4.0 but as we usually drive short miles its not too bad.

Fuel price's do not worry me (at the moment)

Its nice to hear the sound of the engine and that more than makes up for the fuel cost.

Precicely the point - how much more it costs than a bog standard Eurobox.

Do the sums, work out depreciation, cost of insurance, tax, finance if you need it and MPG. If the extra overall costs are worth it to you then there's your answer.

On my 3rd V8 now - I've been running one since 2003.

Offset by a 10 yr old Clio for short runs, bike/tube for commutes and train for business travel.

The main V8 miles are for longer trips out of London. Although I usually can't resists burbling around the smoke at the weekend.
