I'm not talking about a child stepping out in front of you, a lorry starting to veer towards you or even having to apply that sudden 'dab of opp'.

Oh no, what I'm talking about is even worse.

And what is it that provokes 'The Fear'?

The flashing blue lights in the rear view mirror even when you have done absolutely nothing wrong, that is what.

I've lost count of the amount of times in the past few weeks when I've been minding my own business when a police car has gone whooshing past me, lights flashing away, scaring the living st out of me. Even although deep down I knew they weren't chasing me that feeling still would not go away.

It’s worse when you pull away from a set of red lights and the Police car behind you switches the flashers and sirens on.

The relief when they pull out and speed off past you is a nice feeling though …

To be honest, I just think it shows you care about your driving, and your respect for the safety of other road users. That and you've seen as many cop shows as I have where the cop is so cock-sure he has "smelled something wrong" and hassles the driver for 2 hours, only for there to be no problem whatsoever.

Yes, very scary when you look in your rear view mirror and see an empty police car parked up with the boot open.

It's horrible when they don't speed off past you though...
