While i remember the front bottom wishbone bushes are nearly a consumable and Lexus only sell the whole arm, and it's silly money.

Don't panic, I get 21/22 mpg from mine used as a daily driver.
That wasn't perchance driving from one side of London to the other was it?
No, but mostly short-ish journeys (commuting 25 miles or less). I've seen high 20s on a long motorway drive.

But when you can get a car like this for less than a grand you don't mind spending a bit on petrol. smile

Garlick, you have a nice fleet of cars. Different machines, for differing purposes. W124 Mercs are joyful cars to own, very reliable and feel like they have atleast another 30 years life left in them! Solid motors.

Always wondered what it would be like to own a Lexus LS - although it doesn't quite match the Mercedes W140 S Class for presence.

You can pick up early LS400 for around £600 now.

Would it be worth putting an LPG kit on the LS400?

Don't fit a NEW heater Valve in the 220 Estate until you've checked a couple of other things.
Interesting, it was a Merc specialist that told me this. They also quoted £400 for the part?

I should qualify the 16mpg my mate got with his commute which is basically sitting in traffic for 30mins every day. He once borrowed my old 405 1.9TD and it did about 30mpg on the same run - so...

I also think - despite his protestations - that something was not quite well in his suspension. It was smooth as a billiard table but the sheer lack of ANY feel in the controls made it quite difficult to drive smoothly. It was like driving a car with thick gloves and 20 pairs of socks! smile

It was also one of the originals so no later mods and very, very few gears wink

You're welcome.

I see you're in SW London so not far from me, I'm in SE22.

If you like pop over with the 220 and I'll have a look with you we could swap the units from my car to yours to confirm 10 min job.
Even better, I'll drop you a line next week. Ta mate.

Don't forget the two things that go with it -
a) each passenger must ask for permission to come aboard (unless they're crew members)
b) mutineers shall be asked to walk the plank

Not done enough miles yet and have only cut across London. The level has dropped a bit in that time though....

Paul, if you do need any heater parts give me a shout next week as I'll be breaking/crushing my poor old 124 soon.

944 to a Lexus means you have gone from 2 RWD sports cars and one barge to 1 RWD sports car and 2 barges.

You should have bought a Clio 172 for £1k, started stripping it out and adding other stuff for track days, it would probably be cheaper doing all that than one tank of petrol for the Lexus!
