My Insignia has done 74,000 miles and no clutch issues so far. I agree with the above comments though, the Vauxhall main dealers are pretty useless. Mine now is looked after by an independent garage.

to true unfortunatly,

on an another vx car (corsa vxr) wheel bearings and ac pipes splitting are problems happening on most of these cars. we recently had the news of the new limited edition corsa vxr annonced on another forum by the head honcho of vx whilst answering questions on the car i asked about the common faults to be totally ignored.

anyway to op contact customer care and they should give you a reference number to quote incase vx try it on and charge you for the repair which lets be honest shouldn't happen with such a low milage car

Surely at such low mileage the clutch wearing out could be grounds to argue the car is unfit for purpose and therefore the dealers responsibility to either repair said vehicle FOC or you shall be contacting trading standards and involving law suits. (or at least tell the dealer this smile )

Both myself and Mrs WR had brand new Insignias, both over 12,000 miles...no sign of any clutch wear whatsoever.

Don't be fobbed off

Lovely cars, highly recommended.

You got a good one then?

When I had the Vectra I was rattling round in various Vauxhall (Enterprise) Courtesy Cars, including a few vectras, I also had a vectra as a courtesy car following an RTC and 3/4 of them felt fine, but at least two of the ones I drove felt like mine, rattly and something just not quite right....

Extensive testing then. rolleyes Actually, probably more testing than GM did before launch. biggrin

You should try a Mondeo, or an Octavia. I think once you drive either of those, and live with them for 120k and not 12k, you'll discover the Vauxhall really is a total heap of crap.

I agree with this (I think), A work collegue had a 1.4 Mk4 astra and it was godawful, kept breaking and having various problems. My Astra on the other hand, I have owned since it had 6000 miles (old boy had it before me). It now has 52,000 on it and is still on its first clutch, its first set of brakes and has never broken down or had any faults. Seems to be completely random, you get good ones and you get bad.

I couldn't live with the shame of driving a Skoda, and the Mondeo is so 1990's..hehe

Seriously, all I can say is we were very happy with ours, Mrs WR has now got an Astra VXR turbo which she is delighted with.

Too much slagging off of Vauxhalls on here for my liking....mainly by people that have never censored sat in one built in the last two or three years....biggrin

94000 miles on my 2002 Astra from new - still had the same clutch when I sold it last week.
After nearly nine years of ownership it had:
Steering rack (replaced under warranty)
Inlet manifold (flaps inside had let go)
Exhaust/cat manifold (cracked)
Battery
2 EGR valves
+ the usual service bits (2 cambelts at 40 & 80,000 miles).
... I reckon that's quite reasonable really.

Never 'broke' (ie, left me stranded) once.
It was a good car for me.

Hmm...well I owned 5 of them. The last two were st. Mk5 Astra and late model Vectra. The dealers are rubbish, too.

The Ford I have now is the oldest, highest miles car I've owned, and nothing has gone wrong in the year I've owned it. The Vauxhalls, particuarly the last two, spent more time in the dealers not getting fixed than they did with me behind the wheel.

You should do the lotto - with your luck you're sure to win. biggrin

I owned Vauxhalls too (and my dad has had a few too) and have driven a new Insignia and Corsa etc.

Don't think I'll buy another VX, too poorly engineered for my liking. The Omega has had a number of problems that a car of it's age/mileage shouldn't but it's normal for Vauxhalls as I've found out. Thankfully my other car (Honda S2000) has nothing go wrong with it at all, touch wood. My wife's Focus has been pretty trouble free.

Lol can agree with that dad has had his mondeo now for just over two years done 80,000 miles and car is driven hard and not really treated that well and has had no issues at all. Literally just get's serviced and that's it interior is still like new as well has worn well and has been the most reliable car he has ever owned. Really recommended great car for the money he had a look at the new 2.2 tdci 200 titanium x model the other day and seemed to had moved the game on even more why anyone would want a boggo 320d over one of those I would never know so much more car for the money and they drive very nicely also on newer one's now really have a quality feel on the inside.

Partially also depends on your local dealer.

For HellDriver - an Insignia VXR was driven around the 'ring for 10,000km as a tiny part of its final testing, including 1000km in a single day. Not a single problem was found with the vehicle.
