Sounds interesting! There's a good list of most of the special editions on Wikipedia which mentions the Wimbledon Saab one:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saab_900#Special_mode...

There used to be a guy maintaining a website with a more exhaustive list but I couldn't find it the last time I tried.

Holy thread revival! Just reading up on the 900 as I'm helping recommission one. It is one of the below mentioned : Saab 900 turbo sprint Wimbledon. You're right it's an 8v turbo with intercooler, bilsteins, body kit etc, looks the business!
I'll try and get some pics up at some point.

Did anyone ever own, or even see, any of the dealer special 900 Turbos offered by Wimbledon Saab in the mid-1980s? I think they were all pre-facelift and based on 8v Turbos; the dealer had an advert each month in Car but I don't recall ever seeing one in the flesh.
Well found - not often a thread revival replies to one of my posts smile

I will dig out an old copy of Car and scan the advert if you want.

Cheers for the link.

Jobbo - if you could scan Car that would be spot on.

Will do - it'll take a couple of weeks because I've got to buy a scanner first... smile

Some sort of all-in-one; it's mainly for work purposes rather than scanning mags.

I used to scan mags a decade ago and put them online; plenty of the 80s and 90s articles from Car and Performance Car floating the net around originated from me. Sadly my ex-wife took my old scanner away somewhere, then kept the all-in-one we replaced it with, so I have ended up without any means of scanning stuff despite doing it quite extensively in the past.

No probs whenever you get a chance.

Is it worth considering taking a digital photo of the mag pages, and crop them on the comp.....get a really good quality that way?

It's only a small advert, half a page I think from memory. I'll try taking a photo but I only have a phone camera (iPhone 4 so reasonable quality) just to see if it's any good. Got to dig it out of my archive in the garage first too...

1986 Saab 900s wimbledon sport, used to drive one of these back in the day, All the Sports were late "B" or early "C" reg they only came in White, with colour coded wheels, Wipers-arms, Door Mirrors, rear spoilers, and gutter stips, they did not have the rubber strip up the side as on normal saabs, they had a Decal the length of the car with SPORT on the front wing, they also had three gauges in the dash instead of the radio and the radio was in the centre console, they had Manual sunroofs with windy windows and non electric aerials. but went like stink.;)
