Did they make a VR6 on a T plate or would they have been a "V6" model by then?

V6 by then-VR6 was stopped on an R plate on the MK3 golf.

VR6 was technically made up until the end of the Mk 4 as the V6 4Motion and then the R32 in the Mk 5. They were still VR6's - just for some reason they changed the badge to V6 because no one outside of engineers and enthusiasts knew what a VR6 was.

I don't think anything was called a VR6 after the end of the Corrado and Mk 3.

You are correct - V6 4Mo by T-plate (Mk4). VR6 is a Mk3.
