I'd rig one up to some reverse sensors so it only comes on if a car is too close. Friendly message like "Hope you're insurance is as good as my brakes" for example.

I'd tend to go for YOUR instead of YOU'RE...

Er, would you not need to also be in the middle lane for them to read it?

One of my mates had one of these.

We put up a message saying "show us your boobs" and it actually worked.

We got flashed by some 18 year olds in a mini convertable. That was a good day and well worth the 20 quid or whatever it was!

Other choice phrases included...

"Get her bucked"

"POLITE" - made a few people act strange when they saw that, driving suspiciously got better.

"Mate, you dont need HER!" - every guy laughs a bit when he sees that, the girl never does.
