I am by no means a Porsche hater- currently looking into my first 911 purchase, but just wish they would do something a bit different. A new 914 would be a good start? Or a totally stripped out cayman with all the go-faster goodies etc. etc.
Isn't that on the way in the guise of the Cayman R?

If thats not stripped down enough for you there is the Boxster Spyder.

I like Porsche, I just wish they'd can the stupid Cayenne.

Would make more sense to make a pink edition ;-)

Looks like good value considering what they have bundled in.

With the right spec, the BHP bump makes it as quick or quicker than a stock Cayman S, which is smoking!

i ran a standard boxster for 3 months over winter a few years ago. without doubt the most balanced car i'd ever driven. i keep looking at the spyder and maybe i'll convince myself to buy one sometime soon.

this is a good car with some essential extras for not a lot more money and i'm sure anyone in the market for a boxster s would consider it.

Surely the 996 911 weighed more than this, and produced less bhp, and managed the 0-60 sprint in well under 5 seconds according to most contemporary magazine tests.

Are we to assume that the boxster S is significantly heavier than the 996 (Assume not) or has much less traction as it's not rear engined, given that it figures nearly 0.5 seconds less for the same sprint?

Or is this just a case of the Porsche marketing department ensuring that the Boxster S's true performance is always rated as less than the 911?
yes, greater traction on the 911

I do not understand people's obcession with bloody black cars.

Black is not a colour. Whats all about this dark & doom's day appearance kind of stuff. IT IS NOT COOL!

And it is certainly NOT individual at all, don't you think ?

If you think your car is cool, it is very highly likely YOU ARE NOT !

Black is soooooooo boaring. Look through the streets in Munich or London and all you see are black cars all over the place, big or small but always black or perhaps a "very daring" silver.

LIFE IS BEAUTYFUL, LIFE IS COLOURFUL, for god's sake!
I agree completely, I especially cannot stand when people order black leather! All of those beautiful colours to choose from and they go for plain old black.

Unfortunately, black has become synonymous with success, hence why all the banks offer special cards that are black, the black AMEX and Natwest Black to name a few.

I thought the 'Gold' or 'Platinum' were the standards to aspire to. I suppose financially you're doing well when you're in the 'black' as apposed to any other colour.

Everybody has Gold and Platinum these days, the black card is the ultimate "invitation only" type..

I think you miss the point of owning a status card, it's not about "need" it's about "want" and people "want" status the dont need it...

A bit like owning a Porsche, nobody needs one, only wants one.

When I go into the hairdressing profession, I will certainly consider one of these.
This ALWAYS come from people who either can't afford to run one, or have never driven one, or are not able to appreciate how fantastic it is to drive, or are jealous.

I could not care less if it was perceived as a serial killer car, I would still have one, like the rest of us who care about the dynamics of the car rather than the image it conveys... each to their own though.

When are Porsche going to go back to proper special editions.

Like a Cayman RS in the true 2.7RS or 964RS mould.
GT2RS? GT3.2RS?
