Actually i don't mind it. Black edition badge is hardly necessary though, even if it's to signify a special edition

Clarkson jested that the Cayman should be called a Coxster because it was basically a Boxster and didn't deserve a totally different name. H never referred to the Boxster as a Coxster as that would be nonsensical. His opinion is manufactured for TV which most of us take as entertainment but council flat dwellers take as fact for some reason.

If you're going to be a fkwit and use tedious Clarkson quotes then at least use them correctly.

Is £50k not an aweful lot of money for a car, that you can buy almost an identical looking Mk1 bar of soap for about £10k?

Styling is as dull as a standard S, the paintwork is duller and as for the marginal power gain and "jump" in torque of 7ft/lbs, what a load of marketing sh!t.

When I go into the hairdressing profession, I will certainly consider one of these.
What is it like to be in that much doubt over your sexuality you feel the need to jump in and make "gay car" jibes?

Whilst I have a black Boxster S with black interior and black wheels, it has enough silvery highlights (wheels, interior) to make it look nice.

This is a bit too black for my liking. Nice car though.

But for the love of god will someone *please* bring out a *simple* professionally made aftermarket turbo or supercharger?

I know some exist out there but they're certainly not easy to put together, and they seem to be bloody expensive compared to some other kits for other cars.

I personally like a wide range of colours for cars. I am considering my next car and would like to go for blue, purple or maybe even red, though availability on the used market suggests I'll probably end up with silver, which looks good if a little boring. Not going to reject a good in every other way car due to it being a nice but boring colour.

I however do think that black suits the vast majority of cars really well. It is a timeless colour and looks great when clean, though I do concede it is a pain to keep clean.

If id known hairdressers could afford to buy and run 50k cars I could have skipped uni.
Still, fair play, convincing fat wrinkly ladies that they are still hot must grate, day in, day out.
Back to reality, this is a faultless top end, beautiful, highly desirable sports car.

hehe In my experience, hair dressers (at least the ones who own the places) can quite often afford to buy fifty grand cars.

I think you miss the point of owning a status card, it's not about "need" it's about "want" and people "want" status the dont need it...

A bit like owning a Porsche, nobody needs one, only wants one.
Not sure. I need my Boxster because I can't afford the depreciation on other cars that I want.

Fwaggie, like you I also have a Boxster S, black paint, black leather, black wheels... But have you seen the inside of a 986 when it is blue, beige, grey or red??? Nasty, mainly bacause they are always 4 different shades of blue, beige, grey or red! I also have another hairdressers car, a MK1 MX5 Eunos ( in black!) I think now the MX5 has pretty much shifted it's hairdressers tag, thanks to mags like Evo testing / owning them and realising they show up lots of deficiencies of modern "sports" cars. I must admit too I was a bit underwhelmed with our Boxster, but it was nothing money could not fix... Two new rear dampers and a laser allignment later I finally "get" the car, I knew it must be broken as I did not agree with the contemporary road tests reports. I do now though, and can't wait to get it on another PH run.

I used to have a lowly meek rent-boy G8yman which has been dubbed the most humiliating automobile in contemporary times......

Cayman: a dim-witted full-time hairdresser, part-time rent-boy who didn’t realise that the Cayman wasn’t a convertible a la Boxster; unsure of his sexuality and financially stricken as he could not afford a proper Porsche.

It’s hardly worthy of envy. On the contrary you receive much empathy for being the ‘lowest of the low’.
I didn't think there was much truth in this until I just ran my insurance renewal through Confused.com and it came up with Sheila's Wheels as the best price plus an emblazoned tag line offering "Free handbag cover up to £300" irked
That is utterly brilliant! LOL!

When you said "going back to doing proper special editions" and pointed to the 911 based 2.7RS 964RS you put me off the scent. wink

The spyder is a great example of what you are refering to IMHO.

Mr Clarkson was expressing his contempt of the car when he called it a cockster. He then went on to justify the name by suggesting it was a play on words. The fact that you misunderstood such an obvious point speaks volumes about your intelligence. Coxster is an appropriate name.
