What's wrong with an RS4 for carrying the family and a mint 430 Scuderia? That Ferrari FF just looks wrong.

Front end looks like a bird with large braces.

^^^

Probably because those who can afford a brand new Ferarri FF, don't want a second hand RS4. And chances are, they probably already have a 430 anyway.

Having seen 612's in urban settings I am a big fan of the outgoing car - pictures really do not do it justice.

But the FF does not do it for me. The upper rear is more Scimitar than M Coupe, and the side vents are contrived. I've no problem with the concept, but if it had a little more Typhon about it I would probably be a fan.
So you are saying you can't judge the 612 on pictures and you've just judged the FF on pictures.

Done already and with more original style

Jensen FF chassis number 119/025 photographed in Switzerland 1968

Motoring journalist Michael Scarlett at the steering wheel. In a fit of bravado, Scarlett decided to drive this FF up a ski-slope. Unaided and with basic crossply tyres, 119/025 drove up the ski-slope without fuss; much to the surprise of skiers.
Much like the Audi Quattro advert. The problem with looking backwards when seeking originality is that there were fewer precursors then. A lot of originality these days is in the engineering and the materials used rather than outwards design. As legislation stipulates greater safety exterior design suffers from uniformity.

There is something grating with Ferrari 'borrowing' the ff moniker because of the engineering originality it represents. Of course Harry Ferguson was a genius who made modern agriculture possible, and developed ff system for F1, then came the Jensen FF with anti-lock brakes.

Audi used the Jensen FF to develop the Quattro some years later, imitation is of course flattery, however Ferguson Research, became FF Developments, who developed four wheel drive systems for - among many others, Ford Sierra Cosworth, it also built the manufactured the transmission system for the McLaren F1 - becoming part of Ricardo who developed the transmission on the Bugatti Veyron.

If you want four wheel drive the FF legacy still the go to place for engineering.

I hope they build a Scuderia version, just so I can use FFS in every thread about the Prancing Horse.

I think it looks great, shame it is going to be so ludicrously expensive (250k).

I'll eat my hat if the images of the 'real' car in the snow aren't Photoshops.

They have simply altered one of the images of the prototype, shirley?

The 'real' image looks highly doctored to me...
