Here's the best cars my dad has had in my life-time.

The best car for:

Comfort - Vauxhall Omega 2.2 CD

This is what my dad did 30k miles per annum in. It was an automatic but wasn't leather. frown

Best Car for Fun. - Mercury Grand Marquis Colony Park.

Dad has probably had cars that handle/stop/go better, but this was a 5.0 V8, RWD estate car with no traction contol. biggrin We nick-named it 'The Beast'. Wet traffic lights were fun.. We back may of stepped out on us a couple of times aswell. It also had a back window that went down electrically but sometimes didnt go back up so we had a pool in the baxk.

The best 8 Seater Car (3 seats pop up out the boot) money can ever buy, and its got white-walls. Sold to a teenager for his first car.

The best car my dad had was an L reg (94) E36 M3 cabrio in dakar yellow with black leather seats, I remember he paid over £36,000 for it when new. I've not owned an "M" series BMW yet but thats coz I always have points on my licence for some reason lol.

930 Turbo when I was very young in the 80's.

Great memories of that, especially when the ( crate ) motor blew driving it home from the mechanics having just been fitted. Or been towed behind another 930 ( at ridiculous speeds, with me fast asleep in the race bucket ) back from a race weekend after the drive shaft went kaput.

I'm guessing I don't need to say what it is cool

Here's me perched on the front wing!
A Peerless: Wonderful! There was one competing at the Pom in February. Almost like a fibreglass DB4...

My old man has had some lovely motors.

Pick of the bunch, for me, was the 400i Chiaro Blue, crema leather. Beautiful. Remember vividly going to pick it up from what was Modena Ferrari at East Horsley. Chopped in a beautiful Alfa 90 gold cloverleaf for it.

He also had, briefly, a brand spankers Testarossa.

Succession of XJSs, XJs, Rangies (one C plate vintage is still going strong locally), a STUNNING red Audi Quattro Turbo which was, at the time, just mental (and strangely the only Audi he's ever owned). an XR3i TURBO (nuts) 2 Escrote RS turbos (1x series 1 one times Series 2), Rover Vitesse Fastback (bleurgh),

R33 GT-R, Evo 6, Galant RS4 or whatever it was, Supra Turbo (D reg so whatever series that was, long bonnet, pop up headlights etc)

Mercs, including a brand new S class when he was 22, 500 SEC (lurrrrrrrverly motor), G Wagon, 300te (absolutely bombproof!)

All sorts of Alfas, couple of Masers including a Ghibli Cup

AS well as some real run of the mill stuff (rover coupe turbo, bm 3 and 5 series, Volvo 740 turbo estate)

Oh, and bloody great big trucks. Lots of 'em! Volvo Globetrotters, big ass Scanias, Scammels, ERFs, MANs and a Peterbuilt eek (which certainly caused a bit of a reaction when he pulled up outside the local village pub in it when he'd just picked it up. Was nearly as big as the bloody pub!!!!!

quite a selection really! Can't imagine where I got my 'petrolhead' gene from!

70H Capri 1.6GT XLR
75N Capri 1.6XL
78S Capri 2.0 Ghia
85B Sierra 2.0GL
90G Astra GTE 8v
04 MX5 Euphonic

All in white, except the MX5 which is silver.

My favourite has to be the 2.0 Ghia Capri - built in Germany from better quality steel. Bought as an ex demo. Got nicked in Edinburgh and hand painted black.

My Dad had an XR3i before I was born. He has never had any interest in card what-so-ever so I am pretty sure that it was just to pick up girls. He also had it when my parents got together so...

I'm jealous of my girlfriend's dad though, he had a Jensen Interceptor biggrin

My dad had a 944 2.5 before I was born, he was fortunate enough to buy one in his early 20s after working in the Middle East.
That had to go when I was born and I don't think he'll ever let me forget that!

Up until very recently he had a Caterham which was jolly good fun, unfortunately I only had a couple of short drives in it. frown

After owning a string of questionable, but mostly un-offensive cars (Ford Cortina mk5, Astra mk2 1.3, Volvo 240 GLT, Volvo 740 GL) he eventually saw the light when I was about 20 and bought a lovely Subaru Impreza 2000T. Great car and I remember him letting me have a sneaky drive down my fave local B-road, that was some drive biggrin

Its just a shame that he had it just as the dheads were starting to get hold of them... Its also a shame he didn't ever drive it properly jester
