Well I enjoyed it and would like to own such a car, so the comercial works for me.

Apart from the fuel costs, and the road fund fee being sumwhat rediculous.

guess I'll stick with my knackered old diesel.
Camaros are great fun, the old ones don't handle well, but take the twin glass roofs off and go for it, fantastic and not a lot of money either.

I know you might like the latest model, but the 4th gen model 1999 to 2004 3.8 and 5.7 models are excellent, very reliable!
I had a 1999 3.8ltr in Black for 7.5 years and used every day inc winter, yes a few design features sucked, I could live with them though, as for the fuel, I got an average of 26mpg urban and could get up to 36 on a long run no problem, road tax was £185, just make sure the Air-con works, average service
was £160 approx per year.

Go for it Corsair7!!!!

Great Ad too....

It's sad that the first thing I thought when I saw that, as many others did judging by posts on here, was that that ad would not be allowed over here.

No - the BACC (British Advertising Clearance Centre) would ban the script on the grounds that it glamorised speed. You might get away with the car park jump though, as it's obviously dangerous.

(Even the yanks have to put the caveat 'PROFESSIONAL DRIVER: CLOSED COURSE')

It's still an old, hackneyed idea though - creatives can't think of ad, so blatantly chuck together some cliches in the hope that no-one notices.

Volvo are doing it too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soOc-JEDdB8

Look at the ste we get thrown at us over here: the audi A5 swirling gently about surrounded by lines, the Z4 swirling gently around making colourful lines, some webbed-footed inbreeds calling a Renault a fanny magnet, and a fat kid talking in his dad's voice about a Vauxhall people carrier. Just...UGH.

I'm sorry, but that ad kicks ass in comparison.

...although it's got nothing on the Darth Vadar Passat advert which is one of the funniest things I've seen in a LONG time hehe

(...and which just so happens to be American too. Yup, lousy humour, them yanks).
Thank God! For a moment there I thought I was in an alternate reality reading most of the above posts.

Personally, I like the ad - refreshing and funny.

'mericans have always made much better ads for cars, don't know why there's all the silly restrictions on what they can show over here.

At least it better that that awful rendition of the US national anthem, where the melody has been swamped by vocal Olympics and pointless flourishes. Just sing the tune with feeling!!
Rant over
Considering they're a bit sensitive about it over there I'm suprised anybody allowed such a st version to be broadcast, it was horrendous.

Boring, smug, cheesy, annoying and very lazy car ad. I've forgot it already.

These two are my favs plus the BMW ones.

An obsure merc ad with aphex twins I remember seeing about 3am in the morning after a night out, a bit off the wall but very cool:

And the classic 405 one:

British normal tv

15 minutes and then a 3 minute ad break.

British normal tv with a film

30 minutes and then a 3 minute ad break.

BBC

No ad breaks ever

Now all of the above is fine, apart from watching Formula1 where I think most people would say BBC and no ad breaks is top notch.

So what do the Americans have? They have their premier sporting occasion that is 4 quarters of 15 minutes that lasts

6 HOURS

due to add breaks.

Holy Fecking Moly.

In the UK people have a cup of tea every 15 minutes or 30 minutes. In the US of fecking A they don't drink tea so have to have a beer. So they have to have 336 beers during a Superbowl.

It's no wonder Budweisers taste of piss. They are piss, otherwise overweight americans would die of alcohol poisoning during the 336 ad breaks.

It's all completely fecked up of course.

Anyway, what were the advertising? F150? Sounds like a ste truck wanting to be the best Ferrari race car ever, ahem.

really, if that is so, then why are a lot of the ads you see in the uk originate from the US, but with British voice overs at times.

The quality of the average YouTube video... if that is the most watched commercial, the Yanks need to learn how to make a great commercial from the British.

Because the genetal sucking ass hole greenies seem to rule in this country. The UK is so anti car, in America car is King, the car rules.

The greenies have pushed for CO2 and whether you agree or disagree, the side effects are that in Europe you can now buy a car that does 140mph+ and a 0-60mph in 8 seconds and returns combined of 68.9mpg

http://www.carpages.co.uk/guide/bmw/bmw-3-series-3...

What can the USA put up against that?

Europe is leading the world at the moment, something we should be thankful for.

It's a shame it doesn't really make you interested in the car, considering the amount that probably cost. I much prefer the Racing Green TVR advert - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tZF4OF3Ay4

In direct response to the thread title, its called 'Petrol'.

You put it in and then the car moves around, at some point you will need to slow down using the brakes which will handily remove the rust tongue out

Just take it for a spin once a week, it will get rid of the rust and keep everything from going stagnant smile

Oh and a top tip for anyone fitting an exhaust manifold. Put lots and lots of your normal grease on the gasket to help seal it biggrin

True. As a young lad, we used to do this sort of thing - a car accelerating that morphs into a bullet which the camera follows to a bullseye but then PC world arrived.
