RE: SOTW: Toyota Crown
Discussion
Got a ride in a Crown cab from a hotel in Tobago a few years back. 4 of us in a gold one of these with zebra pattern seat covers, Bob Marley on loud (what else), driven by a Rastafarian gent called Zorro who had a extra finger. Biggest bass tube I have ever seen in the boot. Went to a local village steel drum sound-off called The Sunday School. What a random evening but one of the best of my life. Happy Days.
Which bit don't you agree with then?
Ugly: Looks are subjective, but I would expect relatively few people to think this was a good looking car. Styled after the very worst era of US barges.
Slow: 145bhp is poor for a 2.8L engine, and it weighs over 1500kg so it's hardly a performance car. The advert doesn't say what transmission the car has, if it's a slush box then "slow" is an entirely fair assessment IMO. The fastest thing on the car will be the fuel moving from the tank to the engine.
Bound to be a terrible drive: Hard to argue with this; ultra soft, wallowy suspension and slow, imprecise steering make a terrible drive.
All the charisma of a dried dog turd: "charisma: a quality inherent in a thing which inspires great enthusiasm and devotion". You can really muster feelings of devotion for this car?

Ugly - correct, looks are subjective. There are a lok of very nice sttling touches on this car. A majority of the people on this thread like the car, therefore the looks must be a winner.Ugly: Looks are subjective, but I would expect relatively few people to think this was a good looking car. Slow - I had over 110mph (on a private Test Track of course) out of mine. For a 1979 barge that's pretty good.
A terrible drive - It's not a sports car, it's a comfortable luxury car, and it did exactly that. Where does it say the SOTW has to be a performance car? Stop trying to compare it to one.
All the charisma of a dried dog turd - Again, a lot of enthusiasm on this thread for the car. I miss my old one on a daily basis.
The car in front and going up in value is a Toyota:

Such a shame, someone is going to get terribly burnt if they buy that.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-CROWN-SUPERSALOON...
I've reported it to eBay, but I doubt they'll do anything about it.
