Am i the only one who names their cars?

Mine are called 'Pinky', 'Perky' and 'Rexy' and i have also christened him indoors' Audi Quattro for him ... what else but 'Suzy' of course

I have been told its ' a woman thing ' but i dont believe that, so whats yours called?

Mine are called "The Mazda" and "The Marcos" and the wife's is "The Citroen".

Many moons ago as a kid a neighbour ALWAYS referred to his Ford Zodiac as "Betsy" - Even seemed odd to me then

I see a car as part of the family, you live with them for years or permanently in some cases so why not name them

I do too. My wife used to give names to all her cars, and when we started seeing each other she did the same with mine too.

I am ashamed to admit that I have carried on the tradition. My RS4 has been christened 'Jurgen' (The German, who I can assure you does not give two hoots about the conduct of his country during the war). The L200 is called 'Chuck' (the truck).

My friends are PH members and we are due to meet for pre Le Mans beers on Friday. I suspect I will be on the receiving end of a right flaming. I suspect I fully deserve that flaming too.

I don't name my cars. They have a name already set by the manufacturer.

Gf at the time used to complain that I loved my car more than her. As a result I proposed a naming method that would help her feel more important.

As such, she was considered Kate1. The cars: Kate2, Kate3 etc.

Kate2 and Kate5 are still around. Kate1 is not.

Maybe I'll rename Kate5 to Laura2...

I'm ashamed to say that I have named one of mine....

'Bob' is a bobtailed classic Range Rover - so it's not too much of a jump. Plus I get this vision in my head every time I say 'Bob' (in that voice!)

I name mine too, currently they are called; Camaro, Jeep, Land Rover, Roadster and TR7 V8

My wife refers to OUR Merc as 'my car', and my MX5 as 'that crappy ancient driveway ornament', I'm not that keen on either name to be perfectly honest...

My MX5 has been named froggy by my girlfriend, makes sense with the lights I guess. The 5 series was named Bertha and I can't repeat what she called my 200sx. She wasn't a fan.
At present she's trying to source some sharks teeth for the grill on my MX5 so she can call it sharky......

We have

• Suzy Subaru (previous owner's kids called her that)
• Georgie Golf (named by the wife)
• And the Saab is called Scab (not sure why)

We have also had Mavis Mitsubishi (wife's car again) and Scrote the Ford Escort


It is definitely a woman thing!!
