I've named my car when one of the caliper bolts was stuck, lots of names. And none of them repeatable here.

I do not but my missus does. A few years ago I had an Aubergine Cortina Mk 2 1600E. When I got it home She christened it 'Moose'. When I asked why She said that because the car is Aubergine and you use Aubergines when making a Mousakka....hence Moose!!

How daft is that??

PS - Do I win £5?

1st car - dildo ( i found a tiny Diplodocus toy under one of the rear seats and decided to name the car in relation. Dildo the Diplodocus dinosaur.

2nd - Rambo (it was red and loud and preffered to be mauled everywhere, when you drove it nice it started getting lumpy and pissed off)

3rd- Puggy (p reg with ugg at the end)

4th- had it a week

5th- Borat (i know its not funny or clever)

SWMBO names our more characterful cars, so the Landy was KT (first letters of the plate, and now our daughter's name, well Katie anyway) and the campervan is Stinky as the number plate is BHO (BO...). Our other cars remain unnamed.

Mine were all derived from the reg letters:

Hovis was a Corsa P***HOV
Curtis was a kitcar CTU***S
Wilson was a 110 C***WLS

The current one doesn't have a name yet as it's in disgrace with a broken engine and a problematic reg D***PAK

  • I have asterisked the numbers because I can never remember them and can't be bothered to go and look, rather than because of paranoia about ringing.

My parents have always named their cars so it's been passed down to me. My first car was a Polo with the reg ending DPP so it became Dopey. My Rallye was originally named by my mother and try as I might the name stuck so it will always be known as Fifi la Rallye.

My g/f had a Fiesta called Esther T Fiesta and she's on to the originally named Penny Peugeot now.

the wife names her car, her current one is Ted though I honestly have no clue why. She's given up trying to make a name stick with any of mine because I call it "the Audi" or "the heap" or "my car" depending on the conversation it's being included in.
