My first car (Honda Civic coupe) was christened Barbara by a friend at college...still not sure to this day why, but the name stuck and he still refers to the car by it!

My dad hand a Land Rover that was called "The Green Dragon" because it was green and he stole a dragon from a plastic toy shield I had when I was about 6 frown I still havent forgiven him for that!

He then had another Land Rover some years later that was a lime green called "The Green Goddess"

But other than that I haven't heard anyone name there cars confused

I don't name mine although other people try to.

The one in the garage was christened "The Sh!t" by my bro who kept being dragging into helping build it.

Her indoors calls it "that heap of junk you keep spending time and money on" or "the crappy old car" but its only 12 years old frown

My parents seem to be more into it. They called their Suzuki Wagon R 'the bug' because it was bright green, looked odd, and had such a poor ride that on driving up the farm track to their road it bounced about like a cricket having a fit. This name seems to have been transferred to their current small car, a K12 Micra, after the Suzuki died from coolant system total failure at 5 years old. The Micra at least looks more like a small bug-eyed thing although it would have more if it had been in the same green.

Sometimes do, sometimes don't - its usually a sub-conscious acknowledgement of how much I like the car

The first time one of my friends experienced the rather brutal VTEC engagement on my Accord since it had cylinder head work (Cams/Porting/Valves etc.), he said "'kin hell! That's one nasty 'tec kick!". All my friends now call it "Teccer".

The Mondeo is quite simply called "Beast". I have unimaginative friends, although what car isn't a beast with almost 400hp of supercharged V6 power?

I'm also one of those sad gits that believes cars have emotions. I'll walk myself out...

What?

Am I having some kind of logic failure here?

If so, please explain.

It's a bit like my old Physics teacher; we called him Fat Larry because he was fat and his name wasn't Larry.

Didn't think naming cars was a very PH thing to do tbh. I know people who have and they certainly aren't that interested in cars

I've always named cars, ever since my first one.

Bubble the K11 Micra
ConvertiBubble the K11 March Cabriolet
Winston the MX5.

So far I haven't named the Civic, but I don't think it deserves a name just yet. It's usually 'Car', 'Blandmobile', 'S***Vic'. My friend came up with Sid the Slug for it, but I'm not yet convinced...
