In my experience FK452 are excellent tyres and very close in performance to Eagle F1s.

Yep, they perform ok.

But it's their wear.

My Falkens were impossible to get to wear right, and that hurt useful life, and then fitting costs and hassle probably ended up with them, longer term, not working out cheaper than the F1's...

The only benefit is if you get a puncture that can't be repaired it's cheaper to sort.

They are also narrower which means less rim protection.

All said, they are no cheaper to use over several years, than more expensive tyres.

They are a decent budget tyre offering good wear and good levels of grip.
This is absolutely correct. And I'd absolutely recommend them for family car/steady commuter use.

But I like the Bridgstone RE050As I replaced them with even more (for fast, poor weather use). Only a few bob more per tyre.

The 452s give good grip and have lasted a long time on my Z4. Fronts you should get 20k out of, rears about 15, depending on mix/style, etc. Quite a lot of mine in that 15k was A road/motorway speed.

Echo said comments, If i was in the market for a Porsche like your i'd be looking for a decent branded tyre, even thought the Falkens are ok!

Put the Mich's on it and get some use out of them before you sell it. wink

Twice the price? fk452`s are decent, the fk 912`s woeful.

I prefer toyo T1R`s though.
I have not heard of the FK 912 but I have ZE 912 and they perform very well.

Nothing wrong with them in our experience (MR2 MK3) but on a heavier car? Don't know.
I've got fk452s on my e36 which is a big lump in comparison and they're great, can get a bit interesting in the wet but only when pushed very hard.

I'd walk away from a Porsche not fitted with the correct N-rated tyres unless it was very very cheap. It's not that the car will fall off the road or the world will end etc. It just shouts 'done on the cheap'

hmm scratchchin

FK 452's are going on 'special offer' for £78 in 225/45 R17 over on Blackcircles

is that really much of a special offer or just old stock that needs to get shifted before it perishes?!

Worst didn't read my post, quote and spout bks post ever.

I'm not a Porsche fan, not by a long way.

What next? Will Nankang tyres be OK for a Ferrari?

really?

how long ago and where?! i have 2 RE050A with very good tread in 235/35 R17 but apparently that size doesn't exist, so i'll never be able to get another two?! even a tyre fitter argued with me that my car was never factory fit with that size!

I've used the Falken 452 and they have been great in wet and dry. The best surprise tyre I use are the maxxis that are currently on my wifes Voyager. They are quiet, very grippy in both wet and dry. And cheap as well!!

The FK452 seem to be the choice with the Focus ST owners club, I shall be trying them on mine when new boots are needed.
I'm running them on my ZT and i'm pretty pleased with them. Saying that it's not a car to chuck about and generally it sits at motorway speeds day in/day out.

Strange that Dave. I've had none of those wear issues whatsoever, same tyres (FK452), same car. I can only assume differing pressures and/or geometry made the difference. I'm running 31/33psi f/r (whereas the stock runflats are supposed to be 33/36?) and -1.5deg/-2.5deg camber f/r, slight toe in all round.

Saying that, I echo the above thoughts: the proper N-rated tyres will cause less hassle for resale IMO.

(as a side note, are there any issues with insurance/Porsche by fitting non-approved tyres? I ask as my longterm plans may involve buying my FiL's Cayman S in a couple of years, but his mention of £900+ for a set of 19" rubber scares me!)

aah they must be ze 912`s, they never seem to get good reviews anywhere, a friend bought a set that were an average tyre in his opinion.

Compared to the Potenza RE040s that were on my car previous the FK452 seem much better both in wet and normal conditions, have only just had them fitted so cant comment on the tyre life.

+1 Makes no sense to me putting mid-price tyres on a high-performance car.
