I can usually find some reason as to why someone would buy a particular car, but I am really struggling to make a case for this, given the price:

http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/cars/VOLK...

£40k for a (albeit lightly) used Golf!

I wouldn't pay £40k for it but I must say it is rather nice.

It's priced like a golf, but not a golf, but a golf.

Clearly they have forgot to mention that it has the optional and quite rare Sterling Silver bonnet and doors option.

Unless that car has aditional optional extras to those listed then the is no case for this car, as a new one, with the same spec listed in the ad for this car comes in at circa £38.6K scratchchin

Fully spec one of these and you can top £40K........ for a Golf....yikes

I know the used/new car debate should probably be avoided, but seriously - for that sort of money you can buy a few year old Aston Vantage, for pete's sake!

Edit: Bugger, posted on the wife's account by mistake again, apologies.

Might be fast but it's still a Golf and still has the ridiculous suicide grey interiors that only VW do so well!

Just been on VW site and spec'd up a Golf R... OK I was being un-realistic with the options, but it came to £43,400.

That's more than an S3, isn't it? Wait, isn't the RS3 going to be hovering around £40k?

At the end of the day, the Golf is probably the most overrated product in the world - especially the cooking versions.
