It reminds me of a Citroen DS3 in those pictures, it also looks like it's trying too hard, knock some cash off and remove all the trinkets please Mr Toyota.http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98...
Have to say, The Toyobaru Twins (another '80s reference!) are the first genuinely exciting cars since the Evora.
I hope they drive as well as promised.
I like the Acrylic Subie better so far; it fixes my beef about lousy visibility making modern cars slow, it looks less overstyled & appeals to the sadly-lingering badge-snob in me.
That could all change, of course...

Looks like it will be an interesting car lets hope they keep it light and give it some good power too.
This shows it off a bit better than the pictures on youtube:

Am I right in thinking that at some point in 2012 you won't be allowed to modify brand new cars any more? It will be a massive shame if they don't get it out before that date.
I love the look of it and the ethos behind it though.
I can't remember where I read about this before, I think it was a complete misconception. I simply can't imagine them ratifying something that would destroy such a huge industry overnight.I love the look of it and the ethos behind it though.

It's a shame they didn't make an equivalent model with a conventional petrol engine developing the same power.
They do - it's called a Mazda 6 MPS. Obviously you lose the packaging advantages of the rotary, so in order to still be a proper four seater it has to be a more conventional saloon shape, and the centre of gravity has to be higher and further forwards because the engine is too tall to fit under the dashboard, so it doesn't handle the same way, and it's a four cylinder engine, so it isn't as smooth and doesn't sound like anything special, but it's got loads of torque, loads of power and reasonable fuel economy.Swings and roundabouts.

I have to say, on reflection I'm disappointed by this. I was saving with the genuine intention of putting a deposit down as soon as dealers know what i'm talking about. They've faffed around with it too much, its like they've lost their nerve at the last minute. I expected the nose and roofline to be higher for pedestrian safety, but adding the haunches and bulking it up wasn't necessary. I think they are worried the last concept didn't look beefy enough, not realising the whole appeal of it is in the fact that it appear lean and lithe and focussed. They've turned it into too much of an Audi I would say.
Ultimately the looks don't matter so much if the driving experience is up to par and if the weight and power remains on target then I'm still interested. But if you wander over to the Alfa stand and see what they have to offer in 2012 it makes me wonder...

Wolf in sheeps clothing comes to mind, which is a shame because I'm sure toyota can make an efficient and cheap enough car with 250-300BHP, I doubt this one will top 200, it will be Golf GTi Quick
It better not be. It should be lighter, 250bhp minimum and well balanced for superb handling. If it doesn't hit that spot there is no way I would buy it. And I really want toyota to get this right because I'm a 6 or 8 cylinder guy.
