Does anyone know if you can get decent laid up insurance?
i.e. something with next to no cover which costs less than £20 per annum which will merely satisfy the Continuous Insurance entrapment rules?
If it can be upgraded for a week at a time for about £20 fully comp with no NCD requirement that would be good too

they only give you money back for whole months.
Besides for electric vehicles and pre 73 it's free

but if it's laid up you can't drive it, so you are just paying about 60p a day in tax to have it not on the road. A limited mileage policy for 2000 miles a year, not including commuting, will probably cost less than £200 a year.

Laid up cover won't satisfy CIE, as that requires RTA cover. Which laid up doesn't have. Because it is "laid up". So not being used. So doesn't need it. So doesn't have it. So you just SORN it.

That's probably as low as it can be for the year to be honest. £20 a year is pushing it I would have thought.

We work out Laid up insurance based on the car value mainly. As long as its garaged at the home address.

Or just get a very limited mileage classic policy, cheap as chips.

Particularly if you factor in the cost of either day-insurance, or adding a vehicle as a TAV.

Sadly, you are never particularly clear when it comes to what you are having problems with. Which does rather lead to the accusation that you are just making up problems because you want to.

It might be if more companies start offering policies not neccesarily classic , or low mileage if you want to use it for long weekend trips in light of CIE, just low number of days per year. Currently it's usually cheapest to go TAV i.e. insure when you want it.

It was more expensive for me to get laid-up insurance for the Mustang than it was to insure it for 1500 miles a year.

I put my mx5 on layed up today, £40 a year can't think who it was with. I got the call saying did I want to renew from the broker and so I explained how its not actually moved in 15 months so layed up is what they suggested. I had it on a Classic style policy anyway that doesn't earn no claims and has been £250 a year for the last 5 years. They said the layed up would need to be cancelled and the old style policy renewed when I want it to go on the road again.. if I ever get it on the road again.

Blimey, it shouldn't do ! Unless it has RTA cover, which would not really be "laid up".

Do you have a certificate ?
