Video: Jaguar XKR-S On The Move

Jaguar's hottest XK ever captured in motion

We've already told you plenty about the £97k Jaguar XKR-S, so we'll keep this pretty brief.

In short, you know that it's got 542bhp, will hit 62mph from rest in 4.2secs and can run up to 186mph flat-out. You also know that it's head plenty of suspension tweakery to go along with the visual modifications.

What you probably won't have known before now is what it looks like outside of the glare of the motor show spotlight or the heavily photoshopped confines of the original press photos. Well, now you do - thanks to this promotional video. And you know what it sounds like, too (or at least you would be able to if it wasn't for a rather irritating pop-rock soundtrack)...

Dear Piston Heads,

The new Jaguar XK-RS, wow it's drop-dead gorgeous!

I've recently had the privilege of driving a Jaguar XK-R; my son is a senior engineer at Jaguar and I'm extremely proud of him and what he achieves.

The XK-R is awe-inspiringly beautiful and incredibly fast. I used to race and have never driven a car before in which what you wish to have happen actually happens before you've thought it. The flat-plane crank V8 makes a glorious sound, the Coventry Symphony Orchestra! The handling and performance are stunningly good. How Jaguar have further improved on this with the XK-RS I cannot imagine, and yet they have.

Well done Jaguar; Britain is very proud of you.

Best wishes,
Andrew Wilkins

With a cleaner front end, less holes and no rear wing I would vote a 10. This way it is only a 9.

Great engineering, fantastic car!

But Jaguar, do not put so many holes and bit and bobs on the cars, please.
Stay clean and do not go "Mansory", if you can avoid it...

+1 for the less music, more animal sounds comments.

Unsold on the look of it (not very Jaguar imo) but I don't doubt it's an incredible machine.
My only experience of Jag V8s was the old XJR, but even that barge was a beauty to pilot.

p.s. sorry to be a pedant but:

"You also know that it's head plenty of suspension tweakery to go along with the visual modifications."

Did ya mean 'had' riggers? Get the work experience kids to do some proof-reading tongue out

Spec makes this a heavy hitter and being a Jaguar I am sure it will ride and handle brilliantly. For my money it looks a bit Max Power at the front and the wheels dont quite do it for me, Jaguar alloys never have. That said, I think its superb!

Is it really a flat plane crank?

If so its not going to sound much like a normal Jag is it?

Looks awesome. People complain about Jags being too 'old man-y' yet moan when they step outside the box and do something exciting.

And the spoiler isn't chavvy, it's chavs who copied the spoilers from performance cars.

I think possibly my favourite car released this year and i have a feeling it will remain so.
There's just something about the new XKR that appeals to me a LOT! I think Jaguar as a whole have one of the most desirable ranges of cars available and every one of them is right up there at the top of its class.
Well done Jaguar. If i had the money i think i would be spending it with you. One day....
