It's a great car, but this version looks more like a GTR than a Jaguar.

WTF! 97K is someone having a laugh?

The BMW M6 convertable didn't even cost that much! At least that had a V10! & 10K cheaper!!

Anybody that buys one of these over an Aston Martin is NUTS & should have there heads examined.

Sorry. No way, no how is THAT car worth 97K.

Wow, you shat your pants over a car?

Love the car, although i'd choose a more subtle colour myself.

Pah, what utter bias tosh.

If this car had MANSORY badges on it and it came with a PR blurb about a limited run of 50, built in conjunction with Jaguar and destined for Dubai and Moscow, you'd all completely slate it...and Mansory/Jaguar for having anything to do with it.

THEN someone would come along and break up the hoohah by pointing out that Jaguar needs to sell cars and this is just one of those awful marketing things they have to do if we're ever going to get a light weight E-type successor.

AND THEN another bright spark will jump up and say it's keeping us brits in employment...and we shouldn't be too hasty. That would make most of us feel a little guilty for thinking such bad, mean and awful things.

Actually..I've forgotten my original point. Oh anyway, it's garish...but probably sounds epic. A great car in need of an all new model, just always felt ready for it's swan song what with it's old tech and built by numbers reputation.

Is it really a flat plane crank?

If so its not going to sound much like a normal Jag is it?
Where did you read that?
The andrew wilkings poster said it. I jumped back a few steps when I read it as that would have really caused me to think jaguar has thown away its pipes and slippers.

It would have been a very bold step toward sticking two fingers in the air to fuel efficiency and going for hard core motoring. Flat plane cranks don't sound like big bruiser jag engines, they sound like four pots or the old style ferrari screaming in pain.

I'm not sure anyone today is brave enough to come out with a flat plane crank in a new car, unless the buyer demographic really doesn't give a toss.

Maybe the car sounds worse than that pop tune why else would the makers prevent us from hearing it. Great @rse though.
doubt it, even the standard XKRs have one of the best guttural V8 soundtracks of any modern car. This thing probably sounds epic!

Car = Yay
Price = Boo

Either manufacturers are taking the pi$$ (also see RS3), there are enough people with more money than sense, or a combination of both. Maybe I'm just too old now and inflation over the years has made my logic fuzzy. I just can't fathom a world of £30k Golfs, £40k+ A3s, or £100k XKs.

To my (albeit crocked) mind, Golfs can only ever be a £15k car, A3s £20k, and an XK £60k. The value of some tinsel and a remap can't really be enough to (in many cases) double the cost of a base motor. Can it? Just too old I guess...

If I had 100k to spend on a new car, I would buy this one. Therefore it is worth £97k. I think several other posters have said the same thing. I think there will be people not posting on here who are in that fortunate position who will do just that. Not sure why you are comparing it to a BMW M6, I have nothing against them, but wouldn't buy one irrespective of how much they were. This car hits a chord with some people, obviously not you and is so full of want it could be £120k and still sell. Astons are wonderful cars, but main problems are that they all look very similar and have a bit of a footballer image, whereas this is likely to be driven the way it is intended. I would have one over an Aston for those reasons, and I would have one over an M6, or anything BMW make, any day.

Saw this yesterday in the flesh. If those new front lamps make it across the range to a the regualr XKR I'm in, they make a massive difference to the looks of the car.
