I've always thoughts Astons were like the supermodels who had breath that smelled like a camel.
Sure they look good, but once you get past that, it leaves you feeling underwhelmed.
I remember the comparison against a ferrari, with jason plato saying he'd rather have the aston. The reasons given were just ridiculous - "ferraris are boring". And in the same article, the gearbox simply wouldnt downshift when asked.
How you could possibly spend such an amount of money, to have a gearbox that has a mind of its own, is beyond me. What utter garbage.
430bhp these days, in a lard-ar$e car, just doesnt cut it anymore. Sorry, but theres no way this is a sports car. Maybe a GT, but thats about as far as it goes.
And the GTR would kick its ass. With one arm tied behind its back.
All Astons have become the new hairdressers car.
Hahaha, please go back to cruising with comments like those, hiliarious!Sure they look good, but once you get past that, it leaves you feeling underwhelmed.

Cabrios aren't about 'style', they add an extra sensory element you can't get in a fixed-head.
I'm not sure at what point people started believing that open-top cars are not 'proper' - presumably the rise of Evo and Top Gear - but it isn't half annoying.

pfft, don't believe half the rubbish you read. Apparently the bonnets explode if you touch them, the gearboxes are made from treacle and if you drive over 60 the dealer rings you to tell you Nissan have disowned your family.
Unfotunately its not what I read! I live close to Middlehurst Nissan and Car Planet in Warrington.
I also have a three friends with them.
I regularly see the "issues"

You live closed to two dealers and have three friends. I'm very pleased how your life has turned out. Sadly I can only match that with living close to one dealer and drawing on pages of happy people on the owners club versus a few unhappy, but there you go, case closed. A bloke on the internet said it, so its true.I live close to Middlehurst Nissan and Car Planet in Warrington.

For what it's worth I've regularly heard of Aston "issues" too, but doesn't stop me wanting one.

PH needs to be more like this, but is beset with morons.

I had a brand new V8 (tintop) for a month as a replacement vehicle and reverse gear seemed to be going after only a thousand miles. The stench from the clutch was very embarassing.
Reverse gear on the Aston Graziano box always stinks. Outstanding vehicle that does many things very well. Still gives me an incredible feeling of accomplishment every time I start her up. Can't wait to test the S....

My next-door neighbour has a GTR. We admire each other's cars and neither of us has had a remotely serious issue.

Well said that man. PH is beset with fanboys though, who support a specific manufacturer like it was a football team. It's a similar thing to having a football website, if you have article about Liverpool, most responses will be from Man U fans who arent interested in the content but just want to bash the opposition (same thing happens in reverse). PH needs to be more like this, but is beset with morons.
I do like to come on here and berate fanboys though, good for relieving work stress. Even this one, the title of the article is about this possibly being the best sports car money can buy, yet the thread is beset with fanboys shouting about it's crap or not as good as their favourite car or whatever. Not only silly but illogical given the article in question.
Personally, I like entertaining drivers cars. This time I have a Vantage, maybe next time I'll have a 911, maybe next time an R8 or a GTR. This way I get to experience the individual qualities of each and enjoy a variety of experiences. My good friend has a 911, I coo over it and compliment him when he has it around and he does the same for my car. No time for forum wars or brand bhes fighting each other.
Wish PH had more people who like cars, less who like associating themselves with a brand or country.

Sounds like an ill informed crack at saying astons are unreliable...which they aren't!
Bit like the bloke in the pub who loves to tell me that my TVR is unreliable. I reply that I have owned 4 and bought the current one new in 2002 - 65,000 trouble free miles!Back on topic I really love that Aston.

Yep it was just a little rant about paddle shifts. As a petrolhead i love all cars no matter the badge or type. An exciting car is an exciting car there are no two ways about it. This is why it upsets me that most new cars are paddle shifts because the car itself is FANTASTIC (like this one) and i would love to be able to fantasise about buying one, one day, or as i so often do with cars, imagine what they feel like to drive.
Yet all i can think of when i try to visualise driving a car with paddles down my favourite bit of b-road is wanting for a manual, to blip the incredible engine myself perfect my footwork and laugh out loud as i do it all myself and get it right.

TVR, excellent choice Back on topic I really love that Aston.
I have to say, touch wood there have been no real problems over three year and 15,000 miles with the old Griffith 500
I think most are much better built now (thanks to loving owners) than they were when they came out the factory. With most issues they did have being fixed and ironed out, making them as reliable as most.
