VW Golf Bluetooth - Won't work with Blackberry or iPhone?!
Discussion
I don't know much other than one of our guys can't get his iPhone 4 to pair with his Mk6 Golf factory Bluetooth.
According to the dealers it's a known "feature" and they don't work with Blackberry or Sony Ericsson either, they work with Nokia, despite being a generic Bluetooth option.
Like I said I've not done any digging but thought I'd see if the good folks of PH have encountered this?
Somehow it doesn't sound right, almost ironic, that a car often purchased by image conscious people doesn't work with a phone often purch.. I'll shut up as I want help

I was quite surprised to be told by my teenage nephew that my Apple IPhone bluetooth would only link with other Apple bluetooth enabled devices (and not any bluetooth).
Pointless. they should call it something else...like Appletooth
Your nephew is an idiot, sorry. iPhone works fine with Parrot bluetooth systems.Pointless. they should call it something else...like Appletooth

Is this an early MK6?
Early versions were fitted with an RSAP Bluetooth module (so no IPod) later versions (maybe MY10) were fitted with a module supporting the generic headset profile.

I nearly bought a new Golf the other day and was assured (which I know is slightly meaningless) that its bluetooth would work with iPhone. In the end went for a lower model which doesn't have it.

So, is it just other phone bluetooths that IPhone won't sync with ? Or is it fairly random?

Okey dokey My nephew is at the age where he knows everything and, as I had spent a good 30 mins trying to get various Nokia phones to sync with my IPhone 3GS, I was inclined to believe him.

In my limited experience, it's a bit random. For example, the Sony headunit in one of my cars; the wife's 3GS connects with no effort, my '4' doesn't want to know. So, is it just other phone bluetooths that IPhone won't sync with ? Or is it fairly random?
