I can't remember the price of a gallon but i can remember putting 16 1/2 pence worth of petrol in my FS1E in 1981 to get me to work for the rest of the week.
Can also remember it costing me around 75p a week to run an honda C70 in 1985.
Wow, they must have been economical, petrol was over £1 per gallon by 1980Can also remember it costing me around 75p a week to run an honda C70 in 1985.
It was about 35p a gallon (1973) but the price rocketed because of the Middle East Oil Crisis

When I was a kid I remember my friend's dad saying in shocked tones that he'd seen petrol at 72p per gallon on the motorway services. I think it was around 58p ordinarily (per gallon, mind, not litre!) When I started driving I recall paying £1.80-something per gallon.
