ok heres my view on it , i brought mine last sept ,for 2400 76k and 12month mot and 6month tax
heres my run down on it :

HANDLING & RIDE
if you want sharp dynamics out of the box your better of lookin elsewhere ,or you can mod it like me .
I have dropped mine 40mm on apex springs ,its transformed the car handling wise yes it still understeers but its not to the extremes of the Qe2 anymore. i will be getting a front strut to tighten things up a bit more and that should sort it.
highly comfortable even with the stiff , i did london to manchester in 1 hit the other week and wasnt tired
SEATS
ok these arent designed to be "sporty" there grandad spec comfy great if your that age but im 22 so as soon i get a chance some recaros out of a evo4 will go in
RELIABILITY
no timing belt or turbos to worry about and its a toyota ,service it on time and it will last longer the sun
ENGINE
ok lets talk about this supposed lack of torque ,yes the peak of 133lbft hits around 6000rpm but by then your going fast enough anyway.
think of the engine under 6200rpm as a normal 1.8 in anycar ,how would you drive in the real world ,ud change down from 5th to 3rd to get a move on you do that and stop being lazy it flies as you still get about 140bhp at 6100rpm
after the magical 6200rpm the engine goes schizophrenic all the way to 8200rpm redline ,by this time in 3rd your at very illegal speeds ,the noise may not be as hard as the vtec in the civic but its still a rich metalic noise
IMAGE
when my mrs told her dad that i brought a corolla ,he said thats a grandad car aint it?
this helps when you park it and out n about ,wondering eyes arent so drawn to it .
only downside is everyone in vag tdi cars try pulling away from you on the motorway slip road ,then you hit lift and land on there bumper lol

ok so to wrap things up ,its a solid reliable car ,with alot of performance when you need it ,its a great commuter if you dont look at the fuel gauge, its practical and an alternate way to hot hatch formula

heres my baby

excuse the inevitable spelling and grammar errors

Or you could supercharged an I.q like the one I saw at good wood this year.

Iq??? I rarely use mine for the simple reason that it reduces me to an absolute child and i WILL lose my license i simply cannot help myself once i hit 6200 it becomes like an addiction and i just want more.

Sadly i drive for a living so losing my license is not a great idea.

I've always thought these had to be one of the naffest attempts at a performance car ever. Where do I start? The sloppy handling? The dodgy grandad car looks? The gutless engine? Simply awful.

If you're after a Corolla get an AE86 or don't get one at all.

There are some guys on celica-club.co.uk that have recently bought the Corolla T-Sport. Might be worth asking on there also as I see you're a member.

As I mentioned earlier, as an all-round performance car, there are many better choices than the T Sport. As a Toyota Corolla with one heck of a party trick, it's something that has some appeal, especially at the prices you can pick them up for.

Kentao, please buy a Corolla T sport....................

It's like a Exige mixed with a Focus C-Max mixed with a Evo 9 mixed with a A3 TDI mixed with a X5, no bad points at all...........

Despite being an Impreza fan I'd actually agree with what you say, as long as you're talking about the new shape hatchback Impreza, looks like the bd lovechild of a Rover 25 & Saab vomit

I think a modded Corolla Tsport Compressor would be a lot of fun, problem is you'd probably need to spend a couple of grand or so to get it in order: sports suspension & lowered, new seats, remap, exhaust, air filter, softer tyres, performance brakes.

You could do all of that, but I still don't think it would approach the talent of, say, a Megane R26 and would cost a fair few bob. It's like hammering a square peg into a round hole. The T Sport, depsite the name, isn't a sporty car. It would have been better if Toyota had just badged it something a little more innocuous and marketed it as a sleeper.

If you think you might have grown out of hot hatches but still like a reliable, practical and affordable car with some poke, the Toyota might be the answer.

Let's go back to basics of being a PH:

Steering
Chassis
Handling

These first.

Oh and any mid-decent driver could drop a Toyota Corolla sport driver on involving twisties in a mx5 mk2.5.

fking st box. Like I said I'm in a mk1 focus 1.6. A far better car. That's enough for me. You aren't PH'ers. You see figures before the experience. Bye tongue out

Well i have said it on this thread before.
I went on a run and was "chasing" a focus rs mkI which in turn was chasing an elise and oddly i was able to keep up whilst being what i regarded as safe considering the roads and the focus managed to cook and lose his brakes he was working so hard to keep up with the elise.

So quite frankly you bring me a decent driver in a mk2 mx5 and we will see whether you are right ? I wont grumble if you are but i suspect you arent based on my experience so far as the cars ability is concerned.

Hey maybe i am a better driver than schumi?

Yeah thats it i am a driving god! Nothing to do with the car being perfectly capable if driven to its strengths.

You have a clear hatred of them and i get it i hate most porsches and mercs tbh and dont rate them particularly highly.

Ah, but thats a lightweight RWD sports car, not a misbadged granda hatch. It has to be said "look, it's a Corolla, and it goes a bit faster than it's looks would suggest!" isn't the greatest of party tricks.

To be fair as well the tport badge is not the official designation of its being a sport car. If you look it appears to be line audis s-line badging. Its more a spec than a perfomance badge.

Its meant to be know by the title VVTL-I T-sport it just seems to be unofficially known as the tsport.

This thread is awesome. The rate you lot are banging on, a car is only worthy if it meets FIA criteria. It's a road car, a fwd hatchback that goes to the shops and does the commute for 99% of its life. Is a Type-R really that much better than the Corolla at doing the above?

No.

It's 3 door as opposed to having the option of 5, has firmer suspension- whoop de fking doo, just what you want on the broken and pot holed tarmac, and you can really feel just how st the road surface is through better steering feel.
