Can anyone help...we've just bought one of these on 2002 plate but the engine management light is on and it won't rev above 3000rpm and the engine makes a slight whistling sound. If you stop the car and turn the ignition off then re=start it it runs fine for a few more miles????? Anyone out there got any ideas on what this may be???
Really appreciate any sensible advice from anyone out there.

If it's a whistle then it could be an air leak or a bearing if a squeal. Was it a private or trade sale? If the latter I'd try speaking to who you bought it from. Really appreciate any sensible advice from anyone out there.
Thank you
The car is OBD2 so it might be worth getting the computer read to see what codes it is throwing.
Btw I really like these cars, ignore all the tts that hate them for no reason other than they are different and American. All it does is show how dull and uninteresting they are.
Hope you get it sorted.

Check all hoses and intercooler for leaks. Its an IHI turbo so shouldn't be that unreliable despite being a Chrysler product. I am betting that it restarts ok before going into 'limp' to protect itself, a dealer will be able to plug in and pull the codes.
If it's whistling, then the turbo's working, to the point, @3000 revs, where it sounds like it's seeing too much boost and going into limp mode. Switching off and restarting, then everythings OK, sounds very much like it's gone into limp mode then reset.
Don't know whether Chrysler use variable vane turbos, but if they do, sticky vanes are probably the issue.
