Guess it depends on how much the OP is willing to spend on insurance.

EDIT: just saw you want 07 onwards... there's several V6 options out there within your budget, but obviously going to be a bit underpowered.

A relative who lives in a very nice area, mid-late twenties, driving since he was 18, no points/claims in 5 years is paying £2k insurance on one of these. Guess it depends on how much the OP is willing to spend on insurance.
OP, if the S2000 is ok insurance wise then I'd go for one of those. I really wanted one, but they were approx £2.5k to insure, which I felt was about double my limit.
Try a late Clio 197 with the cup chassis. I'm also not sure about the looks of the new 200, but I think the previous 197 is still spot on. If you plan to do a lot of track days, then maybe look at the Cup version.
The Corsa VXR does stand out, but some of the styling is a bit over the top for me (central triangular exhaust springs to mind), but that's obviously just my opinion. Each to their own and get what you think you will enjoy.
Summer is also just around the corner, how about an open-top? 11-12K will get you a very nice mk3 MX5. Admittedly you only get 170hp, but that's not what open-top driving is all about.

Some of these suggestions are pure comedy along with what people are willing to pay for insurance just to drive a car.....
The OP hasn't said how they are financing the new purchase or what budget he has to run it. Until he tells us this then as pointed out there are so many tasty interesting cars it impossible to narrow it down. Saying that I'll give it ago and say if you can get past the looks a clio 200 bartered down won't cost the earth to run or insure and will be fun without loosing your licence. If not then a mk1 focus rs would be also on my list with cash in hand (if that's what your using to buy the car) to service and freshen it up.

How about a Quattro?
Perhaps a classic insurance policy would allow it?

Why do you prefer the Corsa over the Clio 200? The Clio is a much nicer, better looking car and would murder the Corsa on track days.
Thats what I was wondering too, other than being turbocharged, I can't think of one field where the Corsa is clearly better than the Clio.i could go on, and i asume you both have driven the two to compare?

21 and insuring an S2000, Boxster or 911. Really?
For reference, I got one of my chaps at work who is 22 (albeit with only 3 months driving under his belt) to see how much it would cost to insure him on my Subaru. The cheapest? £22,000.
I think you are having a laugh suggesting those cars.
Yeah that is what will happen if you just pop the details into comparethemarket.comFor reference, I got one of my chaps at work who is 22 (albeit with only 3 months driving under his belt) to see how much it would cost to insure him on my Subaru. The cheapest? £22,000.

However, if you were to get a proper quote from a specialist insurer, things would be different.

Insurance is relative, if you want a car bad enough you'll stump up the cash regardless. I payed £4,200 to insure the Tuscan at 21 because I wanted it very badly, I was in a position to afford it and at the time I didn't know if I'd be able to do such a thing in the future. Now ironically enough even after a claim against my name for the Tuscan I'm looking at paying a mere £2,200 for a 2001 Diablo 6.0VT again I'm willing to pay to have such a car now as I know not what it is round the corner in the future. You only live once. The OP hasn't said how they are financing the new purchase or what budget he has to run it. All I'll say is I hope you have your own place, spending £15k on a motor at 21 if your still living with your mum is just madness in my opinion.
I appreciate that isn't a very PH answer, and it's your cash, but if it was me, I couldn't own a 911 or something whilst living with the 'rents. Having said that, if you are going to buy one, chances are the best chances will be either now (when you have no other outgoings) or when you are old and grey (when you will look like a muppet), so part of me says go for it.
Bend over for insurance though!
