21 yr old What car 15k
Discussion
Im 22, I've been toying with the idea of a new car between 10-15k, gone down several different paths and these are my quotes. Its suprising how cheap some of them are relative to the second section.
911 (996) £1100
Z4C 3.0 £980
TVR Tamora £1000
Elise S2/111S £1200
Golf GTI 200 £1600
Astra XVR £1350
Alfa Brera £1550
MINI S Works £1200

OP: You are 21 and you've got 15 grand to spend on a car? st, I'm 36 and the most I've ever spent on a car is £1750 with a trade in and it was the worst car I've ever bought - never spend more than 400 notes on a car if you can possibly help it).
But I digress.
But hey, fair play to ya fella! You only live once so enjoy yourself.
Have you considered a Sierra/Escort Cosworth? Insure it on a classic policy and it might be cheaper than you think (saying that, I'm not the person to talk to about insurance at the moment!). If the Fords ain't your thing, a classic Audi Quatro as a previous poster sugested would be a pretty cool car... or maybe a Merc Cosworth 190E would suit you?
Good luck with whatever you end up with... (I'm not jealous, me!)

Don't do it, when I was 20 I blew 12k on an astra, don't get me wrong I loved the car (888 cdti).
But in hindsight I should have bought something with two seats and a big engine, could have had a much better time and lost much less wonga on resale. With the cars you are looking at your 15k will become 7k in two years.
Plus also where you living? Most probably at home or at uni, you'll need a lot of wonga for a house!
I'd say Grab a top notch ctr, go ep3 for 8k or fn2 for 10k and leave yourself 5k for sts n giggles, or if you can take the hit on insurance get looking at s2k, 350z, z4, 987 2.7's!

My advice buy the the TVR, it'll maintain it's value better and as long as it's well maintained and you adhere to the strict warm up procedure they're actually quite reliable cars. I payed £3,800 to insure the Tamora but saying that I didn't have any NCBs. It's not my favourite TVR I prefer how raw the Tuscan is but as I discovered owning a Tuscan is a series of almost crashes until the inevitable happens. Tamora is like Lotus with proper engine.911 (996) £1100

For me it would have to be a Z4 3.0i Sport
As for insurance, I was insuring a TT 225 @ 21 last year for £875 fully comp and now have a 330ci M sport and pay £1100 @ 22

I agree with the op. Best to limit yourself and get something with safe enough handling but a little go.....
Its not girly looking and its not slow....

Its the total opposite IMO
I'd forget about the 57 plate onwards personally, and get something like this:

Private plate will cover the age, and 4k left over to spend on insurance
