With the majority of buyers taking out credit and incentives for dealers to sell finance plans why would they bother giving you a discount fr cash?

I'd want a discount for buying two cars though.

Are you Mike Brewer?

Main dealers often make a most profit on Finance, not straight sales.

Hard to get any discount on any ds3 at the moment, I would have thought,... cash is no big deal to them, they would rather sell you a car on finance and make some commission.

Try another dealer, plenty of them about.

There's no discount for cash as there's nothing in it for the salesman.

If you buy on credit - even 0% finance with a 50% deposit - you'll find the salesman much more amenable to negotiation.

I don't discuss payment methods until I've agreed on a baseline price - to include the options/packages I want - then I ask what effect paying by card / finance / cash will do to that price.

Ultimately you're the buyer, so if you don't like the price then just walk away.

Not wrong to expect a discount, but I doubt you'd have been paying list price on two cars would you? Wrong to expect discount for cash I reckon; cash is a pain generally, and they make money on finance deals anyway so wouldn't give it away to change the deal to cash. Sounds like the deal wasn't what you were happy with anyway, plenty more dealers to try.

Hardly any profit in new cars nowadays, used yes, but new no way, as has been said the profit is all in the finance now along with kickbacks from the manufacturer from hitting volume targets.
I would have thought they could be a little flexible with you wanting two seeing as it would help with targets, but cash is no longer king

If the dealership is doing a 0% finance deal on the car, IIRC then they cannot offer you a discount for cash on that car as it would mean it's not 0% finance.

When I worked in the dealership we were told that there shouldn't by law be a discount because of a cash sale.

Don't know if it was BS?
