I'm sure these recent insurance schemes to try to protect the innocent victims, in practice are doing the opposite
a) can't backdate insurance if there's been a mistake by the insurer or insured
b) continuous insurance on sunny day cars - if it's ever implemented
WTF has that got to do with anything And more to the point, since when has the RTA legislation around not backdating cover been "recent"?

How was the X5 stolen if the locks had been changed?

It was definitely the locks on the X5...sounds odd that they come back with the keys and still manage to take it away with the wrong keys - what damage was found when it was returned?

From the OP, he said the Locks were changed on X5 but they used 'any means' to take it:
Few days pass and this doesnt happen, in the meantime my 2nd car gets stolen - 2001 BMW X5(keys were also stolen in the robbery but we had locks changed, i feel they came back for the car and decided that they would have it by any means as they had bothered to wait 2 weeks for it)

Yes, it was also returned so the OP should be able to tell the means they used to take it...I don't imagine a BMW X5 is that easy to take without the keys?

Such cynicism!

If I walk around wearing a £13k watch without insurance its my problem. I'm not claiming so why the stupid comments?

I bet if I came on here saying I was a binman driving a 911 I wouldn't get such rude responses despite it being very suspicious.

Ill post back when the investigations are complete and I have had my payout, until then I can do without being insulted.
My friend lost a £25k Rolex, unfortunately uninsured, however it was on the street, and his hand was broken in 19 places in the process, so things could be worse!

I think the problem with insurance now is that there is a massive escalation in claims, both valid, and invalid, plus a large and increasing numbers of uninsured drivers. So insurers are just having to become much more rigorous in verifying every detail of every claim. It's extremely unfortunate when there are innocent victims like yourself who suffer as a result, but I suspect it will get worse before it gets better.

My view is that they need to somehow ban the ambulance chasing solicitors who encourage spurious personal injury claims. This will be the only way that claims volume will be bought under control, that and a crackdown on fraud.

Anyway, hope you get it sorted out soon!

It was found STILL LOCKED, with all the contents still inside it (expensive stuff like sat nav, ipod, subwoofer, amps, child seat, pram etc) and was stolen with hardly enough petrol in it to start the car as I got home on fumes and good luck that night with the range showing as "---" but the car was a few miles away when found so my only guess is that it was lifted?!.

At what time was the BMW X5 stolen?, I'm sure an X5 being lifted off a driveway would have raised a few eyebrows especially if your neighbours would have been aware that you recently had your other car stolen.

The problem is, a lot of people have continued to fund their unrealistic pre recession lifestyle by making spurious insurance claims. That, plus masses of false rear end shunt claims has screwed it up for everyone else. Then add in the ambulance chasers: In September of last year I got rear ended. I was fine, no injuries, and yet 6 months on I'm still receiving regular text messages telling me I can claim £xxxx for my accident!

Also, the cynic in me might view the 'looking for a good Ferrari 430' topic you posted stating you've been looking at buying a F1 430 since the beginning of January as suspicious hehe

At least you actually had an accident - I get at least 3 texts a week from a company who are telling me that, from their records, they note I'm due at least £3500 for injuries relating to a recent accident - The last accident I was involved in was about 16 years ago, and the claim was all settled within weeks.

The 911 was put up for sale to fund the aforementioned F430! This is probably what started the chain of events which led to it being stolen, as some abroad probably went "shopping" on AT!

The X5 wasn't on a drive it was down the end of the street outside some garages which won't have helped...

You might have hit the nail on the head there! Did you have any viewings when it was up for sale?

I feel quite sorry for you OP, but everything you have said makes it look like a fraudulent claim, even though it probably isn’t. I think you just have to be patient as at the end of the day your innocent and that’s all that matters.

They can try and wriggle out of the claim ( and try they will try trust me! ) but facts are facts. If they believe you are a fraudster then they must prove the guilt not you your innocence. Good luck with the claim I hope it works out in the end.

As you might have guessed from my post I have first hand experience of having an insurance company trying to shaft me.

Do you fancy doing a poll on that hehe
Surely it was just a mistake in the system?
