I'd prefer Red to White to be honest.

Oh, thanks Ed, I was thinking of calling them in the morning laugh

I've seen that one, but I think we're hoping to buy from a dealer so there's somewhere to go back to if something goes wrong and we don't want the hassle of trying to sell mine, just want to Px it... Think we're going to see a grey 58-plate in Tunbridge Wells on Sunday when I'm picked up from Uni.

Good luck with your search - lovely little motors.

I couldn't get on with the driving position in the 1.1 I test drove, not enough room in the driver's footwell for me, don't know if the 100HP is different though.

I got one last week from a VW main dealer - 08 in grey with 17,000 miles on it for 5.5K, which is about right. Prices vary a hell of a lot - you sometimes see 07's from dealers for 8K, or 09's for the same price. Remember that when phased out you could get a brand new one for 7.5K. The one you are looking at, well I'd be amazed if it wasn't CAT D at least, if not it's a bargain, and these things rarely happen, so caveat emptor.

Good choice of model though (I would say that, having just got one to replace my 06 MX5 Sport). Closest modern car I've ever driven to my old 205GTi - light and fizzy!

Mmm, I sat in a 1.1 Active Eco the other week, was a bit cramped down there, but I was wearing CAT boots at the time... Waugh-terfall Snr suggested an ex-demo Active Eco earlier, I nearly died. laugh

laugh - they're actually not bad to drive considering the tiny engine. No comparison with a 100HP I'm sure.

(unsure why you'd buy ex-demo when brand new ones are so cheap, mind)

Would be interested in this - my mum has a 1.1 and I can't get comfortable with the position of the accelerator - always end up with my ankle at a funny angle to the floor which then causes it to ache whenever I reach my destination...hehe

Was more the footrest that was the problem for me - put me right off buying one and I bought a Picanto instead.

Thames Fiat no longer exist.

They started selling some French crap at Thornton Heath, and now they are factory owned (Fiat) and having a complete refit at Mitcham (Croydon/Thornton Heath).

(Only irritating thing is that they carry no parts these days, so everything has to be ordered, which is a royal pain in the arse.)

They're still in Tunbridge Wells selling FIATS.

thank **** they lost their Alfa franchise. They're the sort of Stealer that gave alfas 'dealers' such a bad name.

Read the second bit of what I said - they are now owned by Fiat.

Worst Fiat/Alfa dealership was the one that bought Edwards of Epsom (iirc). They had a garage down in East Molesey as well.

I've just traded in a car that was damaged and repaired by my insurer - didn't tell the dealer and the new owner will be none the wiser - why should they know?
Thats a joke right, I mean why would the next owner want to know that you might have written the car off, or that the repairs might not have been that good rolleyes

Also I was always under the impression dealers were under obligation to mention any damage to a car that has been recorded by the insurers, so when/if the next owner finds out, I am sure he'll be well chuffed you kept that to yourself.

Sorry, you've lost me. Goat (my Doblo) came from there and they were excellent. Even had a broken wheel trim a few weeks later that they couldn't replace within 10 days, so my salesman had a wheel trim taken off a showroom car for me!

The car was not written off and therefore the damage will not be recorded.

Do you honestly think any car that has a little bump is then sold with that clear to see for everyone? I doubt the motor trade would ever sell a single car, even brand new ones.

The dealer asked "Has the car ever been in an accident which resulted in a total loss claim" - I answered NO, which is CORRECT.
