So looks like its been round the clock and is at 116,000 miles? Surely any service history would show the record of the mileage but its not mentioned as having any in the ad.

Buyer beware I guess? The seller is claiming ignorance over the mileage but at least they are not claiming it is genuine.

Not sure what the problem is. Listed with 116k, went for £401. Reckon someone picked up a nice little banger.

Tell them to avoid it. Why would the seller have doubts as to whether the milage was genuine or not?

Also, if it really is 16k, surely they would be putting the start price a fair bit higher than £350?

Could be a good car but could also be a pile of crap that might look ok when you buy it but will soon let you down. Imagine if that 16k had an extra 0 on it. Would you still be going to look?

Tell them that milage when buying a second hand car isn't everything. So many people i know get hung up on having the lowest milage possible. It's irrelevant apart from looking at service intervals IMO. If a car has 60k then it is likely to need a cambelt doing etc.

Plenty more KAs out there. Don't get hung up on this one just because it has a small number in the middle of the tacho. Could mean a large number on your credit card.

Going by the links, looks like someone bought it for £401, gave it a respray, binned the service history and is trying to play dumb into saying that its only done 16k when they know its already gone around the clock.

It was the purchases of "Haynes Bodywork Manual", Big tub of filler, and subsequent relisting of a car he bought a month previous (when it had rust all over, black bumpers, and a buggered door) which amused me.

Ed China + Mike Brewer he is not.

Obviously he has as he's listed it with 16k after giving it a respray.

Do people really still produce cars with five digit odometers?

He's saying he's not sure if the mileage is genuine in order to absolve himself from any punishment if/when someone realises it isn't.

You would have thought he would have at least used two ebay accounts. One for buying and one for selling!

Ok the guy's being a bit cheeky claiming that the mileage may or may not be 16k, but there's nothing wrong with buying a scruffy but mechanically sound car, doing some repairs on it then selling on for a profit.
It's something i'd like to do myself if I had the time and space.

Think you missed something there J. Second link was where it was sold with 116k miles the first link if the winner of that auction selling it a month later with 16k miles on it (after buying a Haynes manual for bodywork and some filler)

He doesn't know the original 116k is genuine either....

Steer clear unless its £400. Paint work won't exactly be high quality, I'd rather have bought it rusty.

Educate your friend - tell them before viewing a car to use the online MOT checker which tells you every MOT date and mileage. Call the manufacturers customer services and ask about services and warranty work on the car. If its worth more than banger money get a cheap HPI check. All that will take about 20 mins.

Never trust what the seller says 100% - even an honest seller doesn't know what happened to the car before they bought it.

Even from the eBay pictures, there is paint clagged on the grille, and all over the Ford badge.
Looks really ragged around the filler cap, as well.

Common sense ( lacking in many I admit) should tell you this is wrong-un. It's a V-plate so 12 years old yet only done 16k. That's only about 1300 miles a year over its entire life. Even my mom who must be the lowest mileage driver I know still does about 3k a year.
