For me 6 is the magic number, so a little more 6 cylinder lunacy, courtesy of the V64V....

For me its I6>VR6>V6. Lots of relatively tame sounding V6 petrol engines, very few tame sounding I6 petrols and some truly awesome ones (i.e CSL). VR6 motor sits right in the middle somewhere.
Are you insane?
In the annals of the straight 6, the last CSL is well...limp. If that is your idea of awesome then crickey you better stock up on the pantyliners if you stood next to an XK of yonder vintage or an Aston. In fact just line it up against the original CSL, stand back, close your eyes then daffy duck away to a glorious 70s soundtrack.
I said CSL, I didn't stipulate whether I meant E9 or E46. wink

I do not condone this behaviour. Nice noise though.

With that said... Tuscan is the best i've heard in the real world that's road legal.

I was playing golf at the weekend and a TVR T350 hammered it down the long road past the course, that sounded rather anti-social - in a good way! I think the MkV R32 sounds rather tasty aswell.

I have a 2.5 Z4 with the newer N52 engine and think it sounds rather subdued, it sounds more smooth than anything else - Is it crying out for a better exhaust?!

Nah, small bore system on the 350 robbed it of character and impact. You need the large bore system on the 4ltr+ engines and de-catted.

You don't need big capacity.

You don't even need 4 wheels.

Not even a recent machine.

250 cc of inline 6 from 1966

At the risk of taking a HUGE liberty on the no. of cylinders this from the 1950's smashes anything to bits for noise- courtesy of Mr Nick Mason. Beeyoootiful- from about 2m 10s in.
