Hello all, (sorry for the long read)

Recently saw a nice Integra DC5 at our local dealer and decided to pop in and have a closer look. Car had only been on the forecourt about 24 hours since trade-in and had yet to be cleaned, so I asked if it could be cleaned so we could see it without bird crap all over it, dust on the windows and dust all on the inside.

Salesman - 'Yes of course, it will be getting valeted this week, would you like me to call you once it is done?'
Me - 'Yes please, I'm sure you understand we would rather see it clean without mud all over it'
S - 'No problem, will call you this week'

So I get a call yesterday:
S - 'The CIVIC is being cleaned today, would you like to pop in after work?'....
Me - 'Civic?' I said 'You mean the Integra?'
S - 'Yes, sorry I'm used to dealing with Peugeot so don't know much about these cars'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Me - 'OK well I will come and have a look after work today'

I'm sure you all understand that at this point, I am 95% sure I won't be buying this car as they don't even know what it is, he has called it a Civic everytime I have spoken to him, including a few emails.

Anyway, went to see the car... It hadn't moved, had the bird crap on the bonnet and was still dirty, with the addition of a few cob-webs. I joked, 'whoever valets your cars needs to be refunding your money' to which he replied 'I'm sure you will agree it cleans up well'!!!!!!!

Anyone else been in similar situations? I get told to come in as the car is ready to view and nothing has changed. Very much a waste of my time, so I will be wasting his on Saturday with a 30minute test drive!

I'm actually surprised you got a call back.

In all my 13 years of driving, I have only ever been called back once, by a garage for any reason. Usually I have to call them (whether it be sales / service or support)

As they don't know what it is, and can't be bothered to clean it either, you should drive it and make a silly offer (if it drives well of course)

The call back was a suprise but I probably seemed too keen for them to ignore. It is also over priced at £8995 with 67k on the clock. Many examples at SVA imports with much lower mileage for less money or equal money.

I will be driving it at the weekend as he offered to let me test-drive, didn't even have to ask. £6k bid sound fair? smile

Try herehehe

Yes there are many horror stories, but generally dealers deal with the majority of numpties who buy a car "because it's a premium brand" or "it was a nice colour" etc, so to people who actually understand cars we find them irritating and goto indy's or do it ourselves!

I had someone tell my receptionist yesterday my customer service was excellent and the reason they'd keep coming back to our dealership wink

Beat me to it, I'd do this.

You can get it tidied up by a detailer if needed.

I actually clicked the link... haha!

I understand that a Peugeot dealer would be interested in selling Peugeots and have a better knowledge on them, but to not even know what it is called? Oh dear... The younger salesman in the room seemed desperate to talk to me about it but the man who had the folder seemed to be the man in charge banghead

Looks like a proper import company will be the way! Must say though, it is a mint example and the previous owner did get in touch after I posted on the owners club. Sounds like he misses it and treated it rather well!

I would detail it myself anyway but it is just the point that they called me in because it 'had been cleaned' and it still had dust and bird crap all over it.

Well it's got to be seriously worth a look then?
You only have to deal with the Peugeot idiots once, and then never see them again.

True, but there seem to be some much lower mileage examples for less money that were 4 or 4.5 grades in the auctions.

Thing is, I need to drive one. Never driven a Vtec so need to see what I think.

Obviously a salesman there for the cash, not the cars (which is why he's working at Peugeot!), he learnt the product range for the few Peugeots he sells and doesn't understand the Honda's that they are now selling!

I'd make a complaint that the car has not been prepped and you have been wasting your journeys, the management will be able to increase the discount and will be eager to save face, and a customer in these dire times!
