Too overworked... it seems that the designers had run out on inspiration and attached a LED here, a spoiler there, a fake diffuser behind... the whole thing looks like the catalogue of a cheap tuner.
I'd be tempted to get one drive it to Kahns and ask them to do something to it, I reckon they'd just wash it smile

I do like it though as a concept, will wait to see one in the flesh though

This poor thing shows why collaborative projects don't
work design wise. A parts been on wheels. Hopefully
it'll drive better than it looks, but I'd never swap
a Z4 for that.

Not even an earlier Celica for that matter.

Perhaps the designers just had too much time on hand,
while the engineers tried to mate it all into one
platform?

Nasty - looks like Veilside tat is standard! frown
Exactly what I thought. Could look good, but in the pics it looks like they've stuck lots of aftermarket tat on it. Especially at the front.

It's a bl**dy ugly Manga comic car. There is absolutely nothing nice, elegant or sporty about it.

Looks more like Darth Vader's helmet. - After a heavy accident.

What a mess of a design. The 1999-2006 Celica looks far more refined than this.

Because it is Toyota. The epitome of NO TASTE.

Apparently the front end of the original FT-86 didn't pass Euro pedestrian crash test regs.

When I first heard about this car I was excited but every iteration I have seen since the original concept seems to be getting worse and worse. As others have said, it's getting far too fussy now. Why can't the Japanese manufacturers learn to leave well enough alone.

Okay, so the front end didn't pass pedestrian regs, and they wanted a different windscreen rake. That doesn't explain why the simple beauty of this turned into that black Toyota Halfords collaboration:

Much better imho wink

Seriously though, this is what cars were going to look like in the future when I imagined them when I was a kid. I absolutely love this car (well, I'm not a fan of the current trend for fairy lights all over a car but hey ho).

Ok, I'll bite. I actually quite like the look of that, kinda in the same vein as the 370Z. Knowing concepts in the past though, it will be toned down for production, they always are.

It's overdesign for the sake of it, a trait that seems to be afflicting many a car manufacturer these days unfortunately.

Is that your own work?

Awesome first post if it is.

Not a big fan on the car though. The initial concept was much prettier.

This.

I was looking forward to it, but not any more. frown
Couldn't agree more, first word that struck me was fussy. Balls.

Is it me or has the front gone a bit Citroen DS-ey?

...still though, don't mind the looks even if it has gotten a tad fussy compared to the original concept. Still interested with that shape having a Subaru boxer soundtrack as well smile

Horrible wheels, look like there from Halfords. Not a terribly nice looking car anyway tbh.

I for one love it...

Old skool design flare. None of this minimalist nonsense everyone seems so hell bent on. This is aimed at young 25 - 35 yr olds IMO and I just hope they get the pricing right for the PS1 generation to be able to afford such a lovely looking toy.
