It's a two and a bit tonne car; it being "a little numb, a little leaden" is quite an impressive feat, really. I'm sure it still drives a damned slight better than anything else in the market.
And yet it lost it's launch test comparisons as a drivers car to both the Quattroporte and Rapide. Lets not let Porsche fanboyism through the door. toppstuff said:

Sorry I have to take you to task on that. That simply isn't true, i imagine you have never been near a Rapide let alone sat in one if that's what you think.
Yes it is true and yes I have travelled in the back of a Rapide. Its like sitting inside my wifes handbag. Its a cramped, leather lined pocket that you have to contort yourself into. There is little view forward. Its awful. I was wishing the journey would end as quickly as possible. Are you perhaps a little fella? Only a little fella would be happy in the back of a Rapide. You need a Panamera to take your mates ( assuming they are regular anglo-saxon sized blokes) on a road trip to Le Mans or the Cote d'Azur, for which purpose there is no better car.

Interesting. The reviews I'd read when it first appeared said it was best in its class from a handling point of view, but still poor for a Porsche. Not sure which reviews they were not, though, now. Certainly Evo agree with you (although that was comparing it to the QP and XFR not the Rapide). I think the review I read was of the 2WD car, which might make a difference I suppose?Jagdave said:
Okay Jaguar, time to step up with a real XJR. Grace, Space and Pace aplenty................
Drive an XJ Supersports.Stunningly fast and capable, and I think much prettier than the Panamera, as much as I like it.
It's a proper 4/5 seater, and does the job of the Panam/Rapide for much less money.
You get used to anything (I'm old enough to remember the widespread shock the Sierra produced!), but driving past a Porsche dealer in Ferndown on Saturday it's an unescapable truth that the Panamera is no looker, even in the context of the Porsche range.
Most of the cars looked ok, whether you're a Porsche fan or not, but the Panameras (and it's fatboy brother) just look like a 12 year old had been let loose with their CAD/CAM system... Stretch dimensions 120%! Do it for height too on the 4WD!
Sure it's quick and roomy in the back, but I'd still rather drive a normal 911 or a get an XJ!
