You have seen one, haven't you?

Cover up the badges, and it could have come from any number of low-rent far Eastern manufacturers.

For all the faults of the S-Type, you could never be in any doubt that it was a Jaguar.
Suppose we'll have to agree to disagree, I like Jaguar's new look and if the sales are anything to go by it'll also help them stay in business.

What Hyundai were you meaning by the way?

Something like this?!

Something like this:

Obviously, it's not identical to anything else out there - but it does have that Far Eastern look.

Not helped by an interior which looks like it was designed by Matsui.

Like I said we'll agree to disagree.

As for the interior I'd say it's one of the best to sit in. Better than some of the German ones I can mention that are so boring to look at.

i'm with rammy76 on this one. to say this looks just like another car from the east is just absurb, it looks nothing like those cars. the interior is nice, and as you say, most german interiors are a bit "clinical". i do like that in a way. the XK interior to me appeared a little cheaply made compared to its german counterparts. i think (personally) the best interior from the german rivals at the moment is the new 6er....sure, this colour combo might not be the best but the design is just lovely (IMO)

love how it's angled towards the driver, like older BMW's; and how the dash curves to separate the passenger as it were

Jaguar should develop a new smaller car for this engine. The XF is great with the V6 diesel engine, this is just wrong in my opinion.
Why is it wrong? - the Germans have been sticking 4-pot diesels in this class of car for years.
Long gone are the days where car makers can stick to stereo-types, they need to give the market what they want or die....

That said, the brand is still super important which is why there are some caveats i.e. the new Aston Martin Cygnet and Ferrari FF, both of which risk doing damage to the perception of the brand. A 4 cylinder diesel engine won't harm Jaguar as there is no difference to the design of the car, if Jaguar had just released a 4 cylinder diesel city car that would be different.
Put the 4 pot diesel in a new X type, but leave the XF as is. I drive a 3.0D XF, love it, but I wouldnt consider a 4 pot XF, its just wrong imo. If anything I hoped for a bigger engined diesel, not this.
So what if the Germans are doing it to the 5 series, its wrong there too.
No it's the right move, nothing wrong with a 520d for munching miles and the same for the 4pot XF. If you don't like it then fine but that doesn't mean it's not the right move.

Got to say thats one of the better interiors from the Germans, quite like that.

I've got a Passat and although functional, it's very boring. Sums up the car really!!

Hopefully they will have taken the opportunity to do something about those awful "just seen John Prescott naked" permanently surprised looking headlamps.

Ahhh, so that's what I saw on the M42 the other day! Exact same camouflage, looked tasty even at a glance like that smile

And a +1 for using this engine in the XF, longitudinally, and getting those performance figures out of it. Excellent way to move their market.
